Poaching and Conservation: Protecting Rhinos

Hey there! In South Africa, we have two incredible rhino species: the White Rhino and the Black Rhino. Sadly, their populations are facing serious threats.

It’s shocking to learn that the white rhino population in Kruger National Park has decreased by a staggering 67% over the past few years. In 2011, there were around 10,621 white rhinos in the park, but now there are only 3,549 individuals left as of 2019, according to Saving the Wild.

On the other hand, black rhinos are browsers, so their middens will be full of sticks and leaves.
