Hey there! I wanted to share some exciting news with you. Our company is always striving to come up with better solutions for sustainable packaging. We’re really proud of all the innovative things we’ve been able to achieve so far. And we couldn’t have done it without the amazing collaboration between our suppliers, technologists, recyclers, and other experts in the field.
Our mission is simple: we want to reduce our packaging’s impact on the environment. We’re constantly working hard to find the best ways to make a positive change for our customers, our communities, and the planet as a whole.
But that’s not all. We’re also committed to sharing our progress with you. We want to keep you in the loop about the milestones we’ve reached and how we’re doing. So stay tuned for updates and exciting news on our journey to a greener future!
To achieve our goal of making all our packaging recyclable by 2022, Woolworths has made some changes:
– We are using less packaging overall.
– We are using less material for our packaging.
– We are ensuring that all our packaging can be recycled in South Africa.
At selected Woolworths stores, we are currently conducting in-store trials to involve our customers in our efforts to reduce plastic. These trials include:
– Introducing wooden cutlery and paper straws in NowNow and WCafes, with the aim of completely phasing out plastic cutlery and straws.
– Removing plastic straws from our stores.
– By the end of October, paper-stemmed earbuds will be available on our shelves, and we will no longer sell plastic earbuds.
We are committed to making these changes to protect the environment and reduce our impact on the planet. Together, we can make a difference.
Hey there! I have some exciting news to share with you about how Woolworths is making a positive impact on the environment.
- Guess what? Woolworths is currently testing a new recycling program in NowNow stores. This program aims to recycle coffee cups, and if it proves successful, it will be rolled out nationwide.
- But that’s not all. Woolworths is also trying out reverse recycling vending machines. These machines allow customers to bring in their recyclables and deposit them. This way, the items can be recycled and given a new life.
- Oh, and here’s something really cool! Woolworths is testing affordable reusable shopping bags. That means you can help reduce plastic waste and have a handy bag to use over and over again.
Woolworths has already made great progress in reducing plastic waste and promoting recycling. Check out these milestones:
- Did you know that Woolworths has already lightened and reduced their packaging by a whopping 700 tonnes so far? That’s a huge amount! This reduction not only saves plastic but also keeps the quality of their food intact and prevents food waste.
Did you know that Woolworths is leading the way in sustainability in South Africa? They’ve implemented several initiatives to reduce waste and promote recycling. For example, Woolworths introduced On Pack Recycling Labelling, which clearly shows if packaging is recyclable. They also launched a plant-based plastic milk bottle in 2016, a first in the country. Additionally, Woolworths is using recycled PET (rPET) in juice bottles and incorporating recycled PET bottles into their packaging. This commitment to sustainability extends to over 600 product lines, where they use up to 50% post-consumer recycled content. And let’s not forget, Woolworths was the first major retailer in South Africa to remove all plastic micro-beads from their own-brand beauty and bath products. With these initiatives in mind, Woolworths is leading the way in creating a more sustainable future.
After working closely with recyclers, we at Woolworths have successfully tested recycling our PET salad trays into fabric for the automobile industry. It’s a fantastic example of how we are committed to creating a circular economy.
In addition to the 121 stores that have started phasing out plastic bags, 29 of our stores have already completed the transition. We have a total of 452 food stores and 279 fashion, beauty, and home stores across South Africa.

Are you considering moving to a new neighborhood? If so, there are several factors to keep in mind when choosing the right one for you.
Firstly, location is crucial. You want to find a neighborhood that is convenient to your work, school, and other essential places. Consider areas like Blairgowrie, Greenside Jhb, Ferndale, or South Downs Jhb for their accessibility.
Next, it’s important to think about the amenities available in the neighborhood. Are there parks, grocery stores, restaurants, or shopping centers nearby? These amenities will greatly impact your quality of life and make your day-to-day activities more convenient. Some fantastic options include Woodbridge, Farrarmere, or Bedford Square Jhb.
Moreover, safety should be a primary concern. Look for neighborhoods known for their security and low crime rates. Areas like East Rand Retail, Rynfield Square Jhb, or Northmead Square Jhb are renowned for their safety.
Additionally, think about the community and the people who live there. Are they friendly and welcoming? A warm and inclusive neighborhood can greatly enhance your sense of belonging and happiness. Consider places like Norkem Square Jhb, Modderfontein, or Parkrands for a welcoming community.
Lastly, I would suggest exploring neighborhoods that offer recreational activities and opportunities for leisure. Places like Olympus Village Pta, Lemon Tree Alberton, or Edenmeadow are known for their fantastic recreational facilities.
So, when you’re looking for a new neighborhood, keep these factors in mind. Consider factors like location, amenities, safety, community, and recreational opportunities, and you’ll be on your way to finding the perfect place to call home.
