There are plenty of Christmas feasts to choose from at this luxurious resort, which is conveniently located near the bustling V&A Waterfront. The resort’s Christmas tree sparkles against the backdrop of water and Table Mountain views. Hey there! I’m so excited to tell you about this awesome wine bar called Le Grand Domaine Enoteca, located on Stellenbosch’s Church Street. It’s a super cool place that’s home to two fantastic boutique wine estates from Devon Valley. When you walk in, you’ll immediately feel the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to chill out and enjoy some delicious wine. But that’s not all – they also have an amazing bistro menu that will blow your taste buds away!
So, let me tell you about their special Christmas Eve lunch. It’s a real treat! They’re serving up some incredible dishes that will take your Christmas feast to the next level. Picture this: succulent gammon glazed with cherry brandy and smothered in rich gravy. Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! And that’s not all – you’ll also get a side of perfectly roasted potatoes and a delectable beetroot and feta salad. But wait, there’s more! They’re also serving a scrumptious gnocchi and spinach bake, as well as some mouthwatering biltong and brie pastry rolls. I can’t even handle how delicious this all sounds!

For lunch, you can choose your dishes from their à la carte menu, which features a handpicked selection of the restaurant’s favorites.
As for dinner, get ready for a three-course set meal that begins with a tantalizing festive board of charcuterie and preserves. The main course includes roast lamb and duck-fat roast potatoes. And don’t worry, there’s also a vegan/vegetarian option available. Finally, the meal concludes with a delightful homemade mince pie, ice cream, and chocolates.

You can find Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate on Spaanschemat River Road in Constantia, Cape Town. They have a country Christmas feast planned for Christmas Day. The menu at this trendy Franschhoek spot, known as the Grand Collection, will be given a festive touch. You can expect glazed gammon with cranberry sauce, roast turkey roll, pan-fried beef fillet with red wine jus, and roast potatoes and veggies. There will also be live music and a lively atmosphere, whether you choose to sit at the palm-fringed cocktail bar, or at an outdoor table on the patio or deck. And with all that, you’ll have amazing views of the Franschhoek Valley.

Make the most of South Africa’s sunny Christmas weather and celebrate with an idyllic picnic by the waterside. Instead of dealing with sandy sandwiches, opt for the tranquil ambiance of Silvermine Reservoir. Set up your blankets, pillows, and camping chairs along the banks of the reservoir, where you can enjoy breathtaking views and even take refreshing dips to cool off. With over 40 secluded sites nestled among rocky hollows and fynbos bushes, privacy is guaranteed. As one of the most popular spots for freshwater swimming, it offers a perfect setting for a memorable Christmas celebration. Let’s Have a Picnic at Kirstenbosch Gardens!
Kirstenbosch Gardens is dressed to impress during the festive season, showing off its wide open spaces and vibrant blooms. There’s so much to explore and enjoy in its 36 hectares – plenty of room for everyone! It’s the perfect place for a family picnic where kids can run around and adults can unwind. You can even order a picnic basket from Fynkos Kirstenbosch Tea Room and indulge in some delicious treats like cakes, waffles, gelato, and milkshakes. Yum!
Good to know: Kirstenbosch Gardens hosts the popular Rotary Cape Town Carols nights every year, featuring a band and choir. This year, the event will take place from December 14th to 17th. Another exciting option for a special Christmas Day outing is watching the outdoor screening of The Grinch. Don’t worry about food – street food and drinks will be available.

Braai at the West Coast National Park
During Christmas, many South Africans prefer boerewors and sosaties over the more traditional turkey and gammon. If you want to find the perfect braai (barbecue) spot away from the crowds, look no further than the West Coast National Park. Nestled along the picturesque Langebaan Lagoon, the Preekstoel picnic spot offers a slice of paradise where you can relax, soak up the sun, and enjoy a delicious braai feast while gazing at the stunning aquamarine waters. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the Greek Isles on a blissful holiday. For those who prefer a different backdrop, Tsaarsbank Beach provides a magnificent setting with crashing waves from the Atlantic Ocean and breathtaking sunset views – it’s no wonder it’s one of the most sought-after seaside braai spots in the Cape.
What you should know It’s first-come, first-served, so make sure to arrive early to secure a spot. Remember, alcohol is not allowed, but you can bring your own wood. Just be aware that no dogs are allowed at the park.
