Discover the Best Party Spots in Greenside, Joburg!
Figuring out where to have a good time in Joburg can be tough – it’s like solving a puzzle with many pieces. There’s a lot to think about: how much does it cost to get in, what’s the atmosphere like, what type of tunes will be pumping, who hangs out there, where can I park, is it safe, and of course, what should I wear?
Luckily, I’ve found the perfect spot for partying and feasting: Greenside! Along Gleneagles Road, you’ll stumble upon a wide array of bars and restaurants catering to every craving. Whether you’re in the mood for sushi, pizza, or mouth-watering gourmet burgers, Greenside has got you covered. The best part? There’s no cover charge at any of these joints, so you can easily hop from one to another!
‘The strip’, as it’s sometimes called, is a place where all kinds of people gather. There are dudes in T-shirts that are two sizes too small, and they love to say ‘bru’ before and after every sentence. Then there’s the indie crowd with their hats, tight pants, and big glasses that cover half their face. Sometimes you’ll come across punks wearing leather jackets and pants covered in silver studs. I once saw a guy with the most awesome Mohawk. He spiked up the hair down the middle, and on the sides, he dyed his shaved hair to look like leopard skin. Everyone tries to outdo each other in looking more outrageous or cooler. And you know what’s funny? The guy in shorts, a T-shirt, and simple sneakers looks the coolest of them all!
Hey there! So, let me tell you about this awesome place called Bob Rocks. It’s the newest spot on the block and it’s getting a lot of attention. This place is so small that there’s barely any room to swing a cat, but that’s part of its charm. On weekends, it’s packed with people who love to dance to classic swing, jazz, and good old rock ‘n’ roll. It’s really something to see!
Once it hits 10pm, the place gets seriously busy. It’s like a challenge just trying to reach the bar and get a drink. But trust me, once you make it through the crowd and have that drink in your hand, it’s a total victory. Plus, it’s the perfect opportunity to try out those pickup lines you’ve been practicing all week!
Hey there! So, depending on the DJ, some electro and dubstep starts playing around 1pm. It’s cool for a song or two, but it can get a little boring after a while. That’s when I usually decide to leave and find another spot to keep the party going.
On the way, you should definitely check out Mammas Shebeen. It’s a laidback place where you can grab a drink and have a nice chat with someone. And if you’re feeling a bit peckish, stop by Andiccio 24. They’ve got amazing sauce that everyone knows about. Get yourself a pizza and enjoy all that cheesy goodness! After that, you can head over to The Office, where they’ve got these giant calculators on the wall. It’s a super fun place to dance to all the popular radio hits.
If you’re looking for a younger crowd and a more relaxed vibe, Gin is the place to go. They play music that you can sing along to, which is always a blast.
As a residential area, we have the interesting situation where all the bars and restaurants turn on their lights at 2am and start playing terrible music in an effort to get people to go home. It’s a funny sight to see everyone scrambling to finish their drinks and head out.
When it comes to parking, you have a few options. Most of the parking is on the streets, but don’t worry, there are plenty of car guards around to watch over your belongings. If you prefer, there are also some parking bays off the street, but these will cost you R20. The streets themselves are well lit, but it’s always safer to be in a group.
