Experience the heights at Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar

When it comes to finding a cool spot to hang out in the CBD, I’ve got just the place for you – Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar. It’s a renovated attic that has been transformed into a stylish hangout with a unique Japanese twist. The walls are covered in indigo fabric wallpaper adorned with embroidered macaque monkeys, giving the space a playful and vibrant atmosphere. And let’s not forget the red shrine-inspired bar, which adds a touch of exotic charm.

But it’s not just the decor that’s impressive. The cocktail menu at Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar is something truly special. Bar manager Phil Burrows has taken classic cocktails and given them a Japanese twist, creating unique and flavorful concoctions. And the best part? The menu itself is a work of art, with beautiful illustrations that bring each drink to life.

One drink you have to try is the Show Me Negroni. It’s a labor of love that takes four whole days to make. The flavors of cocoa nibs and hazelnuts are slowly infused to create a rich and velvety cocktail that will tantalize your taste buds.

If you’re in the mood for something a little more refreshing, the Murasaki Mojito is the perfect choice. It’s a twist on the classic mojito, with a vibrant violet hue thanks to the butterfly pea flower. Not only does it look stunning, but it also packs a zesty and invigorating punch.

So if you’re looking for a rooftop bar that’s as cool as it is unique, Tjing Tjing is the place to be. With its stylish decor, creative cocktails, and inviting atmosphere, it’s sure to be an experience you’ll remember.

Man, oh man! Let me tell you, this place has got it all – amazing food, killer decor, and a playlist that’s like nothin’ else. I’m talkin’ indie-electronica vibes that’ll blow your mind! It’s fresh, yet somehow familiar, and it’s gonna have you Shazaming every song just like I did!

But hold up, before you go rushin’ over there, let me give you the deets. They’re open Tuesday through Saturday, from 4pm ’til late. So you can stay out and party ’til your heart’s content.

Tjing Tjing Momiji: Sushi like you’ve never tasted before

Now, if you’re lookin’ for a more peaceful vibe, head on up to the first floor of Momiji. Trust me, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a whole new world. It’s serene and cool, a real escape from the chaos outside.

And let me tell ya, these chefs know what they’re doin’. Adri Morel and Nicola Aucamp have put together a menu that’s out of this world. They’ve taken Japanese sushi to a whole new level, bringin’ in local South African flavors for an extra punch. It’s a creative twist that’ll leave your taste buds demandin’ more.

So, picture this: a journey through ten exquisite courses that take you on a culinary adventure like no other. It all starts with the classics – sashimi and a delightful lime yellowtail nigiri. But that’s just the beginning.

As I savour each bite, I’m introduced to a world of diverse and enticing flavors. From kob and springbok to mushroom, tempura carrot, and aged beef rump – every dish is a surprise that tickles my taste buds.

But the pièce de résistance is the onigiri chazuke. It’s a sushi rice filled with pickled mussels, topped with pan-fried buttery trout, and served with a fishbone dashi broth poured over it. The combination is nothing short of genius. And to balance out the richness, they serve it with a refreshing cucumber, edamame, and asparagus salad.

Now, if that’s not enough to excite your palate, wait until you hear about the drinks. You can pair your meal with a cherry blossom martini, infused with yuzu and salted cherry blossom. Or perhaps a glass of Saurwein Chi Riesling is more to your liking. And for dessert, indulge in a mochi and wasabi ice cream sandwich, accompanied by a delightful umeshu – a plum liqueur.

From the moment you step foot into Tjing Tjing Momiji, you know you’re in for a treat. And trust me, it’s a taste sensation that will leave you wanting more.
