When I think of Gordon’s Bay, I’m reminded of its laid-back charm and the multitude of experiences it offers. This quaint seaside town may be small, but it certainly knows how to keep you entertained. With winter being a calm and serene season here, it’s the perfect time to plan a visit. So, let’s dive in and explore the 30 amazing things you can do in Gordon’s Bay!
When you visit Gordon’s Bay, the first thing that will catch your eye is the enormous anchor and the initials GB on the mountainside above the harbor. It’s interesting to note that these initials don’t actually stand for Gordon’s Bay, but for General Botha, the original name of the Naval College, which was named after General Louis Botha, the first premier of the Union of South Africa. What makes Gordon’s Bay even more unique is that it’s the only town in South Africa with two active harbors.
Now, let’s talk about where you can eat and drink in Gordon’s Bay.
First on the list is 47 Gypsies – Book A Bed. This place is the hub of activity on the beachfront, so if you want to stay in the loop about what’s happening in Gordon’s Bay, this is the spot to be. They’re famous for their carrot cake, which is absolutely massive. It’s so big that you’ll need to take your time savoring each bite, especially while chatting with the friendly owner, Elouise Trichardt. At 47 Gypsies, they believe in simplicity, so their menu consists of just carrot cake, along with a selection of soft drinks and hot beverages. But don’t worry, if you’re craving a glass of wine to enjoy the sunset, you can bring your favorite bottle along for a small corkage fee of R30. And if you’re looking for accommodation, they have different room options to suit your needs, ranging from a budget-friendly backpacker style room starting at R225 per person per night, a comfortable twin room starting at R450 per night for the room, to a luxurious sea view room starting at R550 per night for the room. They even have facilities for wheelchair users and are pet-friendly for well-behaved small dogs. Plus, if you’re up for some adventure, they offer kayak rentals at R100 per hour.
So, whether you’re looking for some delicious cake, a breathtaking view, or a cozy place to stay, 47 Gypsies – Book A Bed has got you covered in Gordon’s Bay.
Hey, I’m here to talk about the importance of finding the right contact information. You know, when you’re looking for a way to get in touch with someone or a business, it can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. But don’t worry, I’ve got some tips to help you out.
First things first, let’s talk about why it’s so important to find the right contact information. Well, think about it – if you’re trying to reach someone, you want to make sure you’re getting in touch with the right person, right? You don’t want to be sending messages to the wrong person or calling the wrong number. That’s just a waste of time and energy.
So, how do you go about finding the right contact information? Well, there are a few things you can do. One option is to check out the website of the person or business you want to contact. Many websites have a “Contact” page where you can find their phone number, email address, or even a contact form you can fill out.
Another option is to do a quick online search. Just type the name of the person or business you’re looking for into your favorite search engine, followed by the word “contact”. This should bring up any contact information that’s available online.
You can also try reaching out to mutual connections or friends who might have the contact information you’re looking for. Sometimes, people know someone who knows someone, and they can help you get in touch.
Remember, though, it’s important to be respectful when trying to find contact information. Don’t go around harassing people or bombarding them with messages. And always double-check the information you find to make sure it’s accurate and up-to-date.
So, there you have it – the importance of finding the right contact information. By taking the time to find the right contact information, you can ensure that your messages are reaching the right person and you’re not wasting your time trying to get in touch with someone who isn’t going to respond. Good luck!

7. Talla’s Tavern & Restaurant
When I first walked by Talla’s Tavern & Restaurant, I couldn’t help but notice the captivating mural adorning its exterior walls. This cozy establishment is housed in a historic building that used to be a general dealer store called The Magnet Store back in the 1880s. While it may not offer a fancy fine dining experience like some other places nearby, Talla’s has a charm all its own.
Stepping inside, you’ll find a warm and inviting atmosphere. Gone are the sacks of flour and drums of paraffin that once filled the space. In their place stands a lively bar counter with an array of beer taps, ready to quench your thirst.

When I stepped into Danny Cool Bar, I couldn’t help but notice the walls adorned with some of the most hilarious posters I’ve seen in a while. But that’s not all – they also have a playful doll named Chucky, who carefully observes everything that goes on in the bar. And let me tell you about the bathroom – it’s no ordinary place, as it’s filled with lively tunes and a fabulous mural of the legendary Bob Marley.
All of this should give you a glimpse into what kind of place Danny Cool Bar is – a laid-back, carefree beachfront bar, where you’re bound to have a blast. Here, they offer different specials on different days, ensuring that each visit is a unique experience. But be warned: if you think you can just drop by for “just one drink,” you’re in for a pleasant surprise.

The Dock In The Bay: More Than Meets the Eye
When I stumbled upon The Dock, I figured it was just another run-of-the-mill beachfront bar. You know the type – offering drink specials, live music on Saturdays, karaoke on Fridays, and even a Trivia Evening on Tuesdays. But little did I know, there was something more hidden away in this unassuming establishment. Tucked away at the back was a quaint restaurant, complete with a pianola! I had never encountered one before, and let me tell you, it’s quite the sight worth seeing. Believe it or not, this pianola has been there since 1928, and it’s definitely worth checking out. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch someone playing it!
The food at The Dock is just as enticing as the entertainment. They offer a wide range of delectable dishes, including curries, bobotie, steaks, chops, pasta, and an array of seafood options. But perhaps the best part of it all is the option to simply relax outside under an umbrella, sipping on a refreshing cocktail, and taking in the sights and sounds of the world passing by.

Located conveniently across from the Spar in Gordon’s Bay, this gem has caught my attention. And even though the word “carwash” may sound a bit controversial due to our drought concerns, they have a clear solution – they’ve recently drilled a borehole.
Their car wash services start at R100, giving you a chance to freshen up your vehicle while you indulge in a satisfying meal. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast complete with eggs, bacon, boerewors, mushrooms, and toast, for just R45, or a simple yet delightful cheese scone with extra cheese and jam for R30, they’ve got you covered.
Take a break from your day and treat yourself to a unique experience of enjoying a cup of coffee or a delightful meal while getting your car washed. To learn more or make a reservation, give them a call at Tel 0794306782 or 0724384353.

Hike the Gantouw Pass in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve
Hey there! Have you ever heard of the Gantouw Pass? It’s a cool hiking spot in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve. This place is also called Eland Pass because the Khoi herders used it a long time ago, and in their language, “Gantouw” means eland. Pretty interesting, right? You know what’s even cooler? It was declared a national monument back in 1958!
So, when you hike along the Gantouw Pass, you’ll see these deep grooves in the rocks. They were made by wagon wheels that got stuck as they went down the super steep slopes. It’s like the rocks have a story to tell. Make sure to bring your 4×4 vehicle, though, because you’ll need it to reach the starting point of the hikes.
If you want to check it out, you can contact Cape Nature at Tel 0214830000.

Stroll Along Scenic Pathways
When I go for a walk along the beach, I always make sure to include the whale-watching trail. It’s a bit longer, but totally worth it. While I’m there, I like to dip my toes in the sea. It’s nice because the water is warmer and calmer than the Atlantic coast. But that’s not all there is to see! I always keep an eye out for the Ingrid Jonker memorial. She was a famous poet who spent a lot of her childhood here in Gordon’s Bay. I think she must have been really happy here. Another cool thing to check out is the ceramic tile map at the post office. It shows the Cape and False Bay as they were back in the 18th century, and it’s absolutely beautiful.

30. Gordon’s Bay Winter Wonderland Festival
Every year, at the beginning of July, Gordon’s Bay hosts its very own festival of lights. This is a source of great pride for the town. The festival is called Winter Wonderland, and it takes place over two weekends. Winter is an ideal time to visit Gordon’s Bay because the wind is not usually a problem. However, there is a chance of rain, so the festival is held indoors. It’s a fantastic opportunity to explore all the wonderful places that Gordon’s Bay has to offer. During Winter Wonderland, many establishments in the town provide special promotions and activities. There is also a fairground, where you can enjoy all the fun of the fair. The whole town is beautifully decorated with fairy lights and there are plenty of exciting events to attend. I’ve attended this festival two years in a row, and I’ve had a wonderful time each time. This year, Winter Wonderland will take place from June 30th to July 2nd, and then again from July 7th to 9th. I recommend visiting the festival’s website or Facebook page for the latest updates and information.
