Welcome to The Table at De Meye: A Charming Place to Have Lunch in Stellenbosch

When I think of The Table at De Meye, the first word that comes to mind is “idyllic” – and it’s exactly what you’ll find when you visit this beautiful vineyard in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The Table at De Meye is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. From the moment you step foot onto the grounds, you’re transported to a world of tranquility and natural beauty. The lush green gardens, picturesque vineyards, and majestic trees create a serene backdrop that’s hard to resist.

Speaking of irresistible, the food at The Table at De Meye is nothing short of extraordinary. The talented chefs take great pride in creating dishes that are not only visually stunning but also bursting with flavor. They make use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients to bring out the best in every dish.

One of the things I love most about The Table at De Meye is their commitment to sustainability. They have their own organic vegetable and herb garden, where they grow a variety of fresh produce. They also have beehives, which provide honey for their dishes and help support the local ecosystem.

But it’s not just the food that makes The Table at De Meye special; it’s the people. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family from the moment you arrive. They are passionate about what they do and their enthusiasm is contagious.

And let’s not forget about the wine! The Table at De Meye is located in the heart of the Stellenbosch wine region, which means you can expect a fantastic selection of wines to complement your meal. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or simply enjoy a good glass of vino, you won’t be disappointed.

Hey there! I have some exciting news to share with you. The owners of The Table, Jess Shepherd and Luke Grant, have decided to pass the torch to a new couple, Brendan and Leigh. They’re taking over in September 2019, and their goal is to continue the tradition of incredible food and warm hospitality that has made The Table a beloved spot for the past six years.

What’s even better is that Brendan and Leigh are keeping all the things you love about The Table. The tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, and stemware will all stay the same. So you can still enjoy that charming country-style dining experience that The Table is known for. Whether you’re sitting under the shade of ancient trees or cozied up in the historic farm building during the colder months, you’ll feel right at home.

Deliciously Simple

I am Chef Brendan, and I was lucky enough to learn from the renowned chef George Jardine. For seven years, including four at his acclaimed restaurant on Jordan Wine Estate, I worked closely with him. This experience has made me no stranger to the wonderful world of Winelands dining.

Here at The Table, my partner Leigh and I are ready to bring our shared passion for food to your table. We love creating simple yet delicious dishes that will leave you craving more. And of course, we only use the freshest, seasonal produce sourced from local farmers in the countryside.

When you visit The Table at De Meye, you can expect a delightful three-course sharing menu that showcases the restaurant’s long-standing reputation. Each week, the menu changes to highlight the freshest ingredients of the season. You’ll start with a generous serving of freshly baked sourdough bread from Schoon de Companje, accompanied by homemade farm butter. As your main course, savor the rich flavors of the 12-hour braised lamb shoulder. And for a sweet ending, indulge in the decadence of the millionaire chocolate tart with a side of refreshing orange-blossom ice cream.
