The Best International Hiking Destinations

Canada

When I think of Canada, the first thing that comes to mind is the iconic West Coast trail. This trail not only offers breathtaking views of the ocean but also presents an exhilarating challenge with its rugged terrain. What makes this trail even more special is its rich history – it was initially established in 1907 as a life-saving path. Back then, it served as a way to rescue survivors shipwrecked along the treacherous coast of the island. Today, backpacking this trail for multiple days is considered the ultimate way to conquer it.

Tanzania

Imagine standing at the top of Africa, looking out at the world below. That’s exactly what you can experience in Tanzania when you hike your way up Mount Kilimanjaro. Picture yourself with a backpack and hiking poles, as you conquer this majestic mountain. And when you finally reach the summit, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking sunrise above the Meru mountain range. It’s an experience you’ll never forget.

If you’re looking for incredible hiking experiences, Tanzania and Nepal are two destinations that won’t disappoint. In Tanzania, you can challenge yourself with the awe-inspiring Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This 7-day trek will take you through five different ecological zones and climates, providing an unforgettable adventure. Mount Meru is another great option in Tanzania, offering slightly easier trails and stunning views. This 4-6 day climb is definitely worth it.

When it comes to Nepal…

Nepal is a hiker’s paradise, especially if you’re a fan of stunning mountain landscapes. The Great Himalaya Trail is a must-visit, following the magnificent Himalayan range. You’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views and have the chance to immerse yourself in the unique cultures of the remote villages along the way.

As I explore the trail, I am greeted by the breathtaking sights of subtropical forests, challenging mountain passes, and lush valleys. Everywhere I look, there is natural beauty that spoils my senses.

Turkey

If you embark on Turkey’s Lycian Way, a long-distance trail along the coast of the Lycia region, you’ll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the Mediterranean Sea, ancient ruins, and rugged mountains. This journey is a feast for the eyes.

The entire route can be completed in three weeks. But, if you prefer, there’s also the option to tackle shorter segments. Along the way, you can explore Turkey’s charming towns and even take a refreshing dip in the inviting and crystal-clear waters.
