This unique museum is located in a small cove that served as the starting point for the village of Hermanus. Over a century ago, the cove, known as Visbaai, provided a safe refuge for fishing boats like “Debbie,” “Tunny,” “Rosebud,” and others. As you explore the outdoor section of the museum, you’ll come across these very boats, along with the original sea wall, brine tanks, and even a WW2 lifeboat named “Nellie II.”

Once inside the museum building, you’ll be transported back in time as you discover the antique fishing equipment and learn about the rich history of the town. Don’t miss the “trophies” belonging to Bill Selkirk, a famous local angler and shark hunter.
