Hi there! My name is Sean Gibson, and I want to tell you all about Kloof Street House, a fantastic restaurant located in an old Victorian building. Just imagine stepping into the pages of The Great Gatsby – that’s what it feels like when you enter this place! It’s tucked away from the bustling Kloof street, hidden behind thick shrubs, so you might miss it if you’re not paying attention. But once you find it, you’ll be in for a treat.

For those looking for a more substantial meal, Kloof Street House offers a brasserie-style menu that will satisfy your taste buds. And make sure to save some room for their famous popcorn cheesecake dessert – it’s simply divine!

Now, let me share a little insider tip with you. Don’t miss out on the Sunday lunchtime jazz sessions. They add an extra touch of magic to your dining experience. And if you’re looking for some extra privacy, there’s a second courtyard seating area at the back.

It’s like being in Ibiza!

À la carte perfection at Tryn

by Warren Heath

Hey there! You may not know this, but the name of this place actually comes from Old Norse and it means “moose”. Pretty cool, right? Anyways, the vibe here is all about nature and you can see that in the colors they use like charcoal, black, wood, and sage green. During those hot summer nights, you definitely want to hang out in their courtyard. It’s filled with plants and has everything you need – a bar, comfy sofas, café tables, and even a pizza oven! How awesome is that?

Now, let’s talk about the food. It’s all about fresh and seasonal ingredients here. The chef, Jesper Nilsson, is from Sweden and he really knows how to make some amazing dishes. He wants everyone to feel comfortable, so he serves everything as sharing plates. You can come here just for drinks and snacks, or you can try their chef’s choice menu which comes with some great wine pairings. Sounds like a win-win to me!

If you’re wondering when they’re open, here’s the lowdown. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they’re open from 6pm to 11pm. Then, from Thursday to Saturday, you can visit them from 12pm to 3pm and again from 6pm to 11pm. Not bad, right?

If you’re already excited about this place and want to make a reservation, you can call them at 021 422 0384 or send them an email at reservations@elgr.co.za. And just so you know, they’re located at 75 Kloof Street in Gardens. Trust me, it’s worth a visit!

And now, let’s move on to the next spot. It’s called Constantia Glen. Stay tuned!

As I wind my way up the driveway at Constantia Glen, surrounded by beautiful fynbos and lush lawns, I can’t help but be enchanted by the stunning views that await me at the large tasting venue. The building is surrounded by various outdoor spaces, each offering a unique perspective of Cape Town’s beauty. The verandah, with its cozy wicker chairs and sweeping panoramas, is an obvious choice, but on windy days, the sheltered courtyard beckons.

Once settled, I eagerly indulge in a selection of their exquisite wines, perfectly complemented by a delectable assortment of cheese and charcuterie platters, Flammkuchen, gourmet main dishes, salads, and desserts. It’s a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.

You’ll be pleased to know that Constantia Glen is open from Sunday to Thursday, from 10am to 6pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays, they extend their hours until 8pm, giving you ample time to savor the experience.
