They’re the proud owners of Idiom Wines in Somerset West and this beautiful winery, which they founded in 1995. The name Whalehaven Winery was inspired by the protective bay that provides a haven for southern right whales during the winter breeding season.

If you’re looking for exceptional wines, you won’t be disappointed. Winemaker Reino Thiart pours his passion into crafting merlot, cabernet franc, chardonnay, and pinot noir that are truly something special. Each bottle is meticulously made, showcasing the artistry of boutique, handcrafted wines.

But wine isn’t the only draw here. If you want to explore the stunning valley that surrounds the winery, you’re in luck. Take a hop-on hop-off safari-style wine tour and enjoy an exciting adventure through the region. You’ll discover other fantastic wineries along the way, and you won’t even break a sweat!

When you visit, keep in mind that the winery is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10am to 5pm. And on Saturdays and Sundays, they’re open from 10am to 4pm.
