Can you believe that there are buildings that seem to dance on the granite shoulders of Namibia’s famous mountain of gems? It’s truly a sight to behold!

When I think about the stylish accommodation at Spitzkoppen Lodge, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe and tranquility. Nestled among the breathtaking landscapes of Namibia, this place is truly a hidden gem.

There are 15 chalets at the lodge, and let me tell you, they are something special. Each chalet is generously spaced and boasts tasteful furnishings. And the best part? You’ll have your own private bathroom and a covered outside viewing deck. Talk about luxury!

I had the chance to chat with Jenine Barnard, the person in charge of running the lodge. She shared with me a beautiful story about her family’s connection to this place. Her dad used to camp here when he was a young boy, and it quickly became their family’s favorite spot. Year after year, they kept coming back.

According to Jenine, her dad believes that this mountain has a special way of speaking to you. He’s spent countless hours pondering what could be done with this land. And eventually, his dream became a reality.

After 14 long years of negotiations, her father – who is an architect – secured a concession to build the lodge. But it wasn’t an easy road. The concession came with some conditions. One of them was that if necessary, the lodge could be completely removed without causing any damage to the site. Another condition was that he had to assist in managing the Spitzkoppen community campsite.

When I learned about the dedication and love that went into creating Spitzkoppen Lodge, it made me appreciate it even more. The blending of natural beauty, architectural brilliance, and a deep connection to the land is truly something to behold. If you’re looking for a getaway that will leave you breathless, I can’t recommend this place enough. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t soon forget!

Wow, you won’t believe the incredible effort it took to build this place! Jenine remembers that they had to transport tons and tons of steel up here because the trucks couldn’t make it. They had to carry everything and build the frames right on the spot. Can you imagine that? They managed to finish the whole place in just nine months. And get this, Jenine and her mom even designed the decor!

Now, let me tell you about the dining area. It’s located high above the plain and offers an amazing view of the sunset. But here’s the exciting part – to reach it, you have to go up these winding ramps that almost make you feel like you’re flying. It’s a truly unique experience! And as for the chalets, they’re on the other side of a rocky ridge and can only be accessed by golf carts. These carts drive on breathtaking ramps that take you up the mountainside. I’m telling you, it’s something you’ve got to see!

Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the buildings themselves. They’re not just sitting on the ground like ordinary buildings. No, no! They’re raised up on stilts, giving them that really cool Mongolian-tent vibe. And let me tell you, they are absolutely luxurious. You won’t believe the level of comfort and style you’ll find there. It’s like being in a dream!

Have you ever been to the pool area of Spitzkoppen Lodge? It’s truly a sight to behold. Just ask Jenine – she says people who visit absolutely love it. And it’s no wonder why. The place is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. In fact, on just a little bit of advertising and word of mouth, the response has been absolutely crazy.

But Jenine thinks it’s only the beginning. She believes that once the overseas market discovers the lodge, things are going to get really busy. And I can’t say I blame her. I mean, who wouldn’t want to experience the incredible sunset view across the vast Namibian plains from the deck of a pool high among the rocks?

Now, I know what you’re thinking – how much is all this going to cost me? Well, the good news is that it’s actually quite affordable. You can stay at the lodge for just R2800 per person sharing, and that includes a delicious breakfast.
