When I saw the dinner menu, my mouth watered at the thought of what was to come. The first dish of the night was a delightful bread plate featuring organic sourdough and focaccia made by The Bread Bar down the road. These delicious breads were made with Lowerland stone-ground flour, giving them a unique and satisfying flavor. To accompany the bread, we were served a spicy bean purée and smoked rosemary butter, which added a burst of flavor to each bite.
Next up was the Medley of Beetroot, a colorful and vibrant dish made with organic, heirloom beets. The beets were roasted, smoked, pickled, and served raw and puréed, showcasing the versatility of this vegetable. To complement the beets, the dish was topped with creamy goat’s chevre and garnished with wild foraged herbs. The combination of flavors and textures made each bite a delight.
After savoring the beet medley, it was time to enjoy the lightly dusted local artichokes. These tender artichokes were served with a refreshing lemon aioli, which provided a tangy contrast to the earthy flavor of the vegetable. Alongside the artichokes, we were treated to hand-rolled spinach and ricotta ravioli. The ravioli sat on a bed of kale and spinach purée, and was topped with Parmesan crème, sourdough, and almond crumb. The combination of the creamy filling, the rich purée, and the crispy crumb created a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

I had the most delicious main course at the restaurant. I opted for the line-caught hake and prawn dish, which was cooked to perfection. The hake was lightly pan-fried and served with a medley of broccoli, spinach, and butter-braised leek in a shallow butter broth. Every bite was a burst of flavors.
