When you step into the Sea Point Pavilion, you’re greeted by the city’s one and only Olympic-sized saltwater swimming pool. As the clock strikes 7am in summer, this magnificent pool springs to life. It’s an exciting and busy time, as keen swimmers from all walks of life scramble to secure their lanes. There are the impressive triathletes, the dedicated squad swimmers, and some say even the occasional Olympian. It’s quite the feat to swim alongside such incredible athletes!

But don’t worry if you’re not a professional swimmer. The Sea Point Pavilion welcomes everyone. As the day goes on, the pool becomes a hub of activity. Leisure swimmers take to the refreshing water, sunseekers bask on the grassy patches surrounding the pool, and families come together for some quality time. • Exploring the area has never been easier! Up Cycles has a bike-hire booth located at The Pavilion, offering rentals starting at R90 for an hour of two-wheeled adventure.

Did you know? If you swim often, you can save money by getting a season ticket or an annual ticket. The season ticket costs R270 for adults, and the annual ticket costs R2,912 for adults. There are also special rates available for schools and clubs.

When can I go? The pool is open from Tuesday to Sunday, including public holidays. The opening hours are 7am to 7pm. On Mondays, the pool opens at 10am and stays open until 7pm. Please note that on December 24th and 25th, the pool closes early at 1pm.

How much does it cost? The entrance fee for adults is R32 per visit. If you prefer, you can also get a monthly pass for R384. For children under 16 years old, the entrance fee is R18 per visit or R168 per month. Pensioners and toddlers can enter for free.
