Ramenhead: Cape Town’s New Japanese-Inspired Restaurant

Hey there! I wanted to tell you about this awesome new restaurant I just discovered in Cape Town called Ramenhead. If you’re a fan of Japanese food like me, you’re going to love this place. They’ve taken the concept of ramen noodles and elevated it to a whole new level.

So, what exactly is Ramenhead? Well, it’s a restaurant that specializes in serving delicious ramen bowls inspired by the flavors of Japan. You know those tasty noodles in a rich broth with all sorts of toppings? That’s what they’re all about.

When you first walk into Ramenhead, you’ll be greeted by a stylish and cozy atmosphere. The interior has a modern yet traditional Japanese feel to it, with wooden accents and paper lanterns. It’s the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The menu at Ramenhead offers a variety of authentic ramen bowls that will leave your taste buds wanting more. From classic tonkotsu ramen made with slow-cooked pork broth to spicy miso ramen packed with heat and flavor, there’s something for everyone.

One of the things I love about Ramenhead is their attention to detail. Each bowl is carefully crafted with the freshest ingredients and bold flavors. The noodles are perfectly cooked, the broth is rich and flavorful, and the toppings are just the right amount of crunchy and savory.

Whether you’re a meat lover or a vegetarian, Ramenhead has got you covered. They offer a variety of protein options, including pork, chicken, beef, and tofu. You can also customize your bowl with extras like soft-boiled eggs, seaweed, bamboo shoots, and more.

If you’re not in the mood for ramen, don’t worry. Ramenhead also offers other Japanese-inspired dishes like gyoza, tempura, and rice bowls. And of course, no meal is complete without a refreshing drink. They have a selection of unique cocktails, sake, and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from.

Overall, Ramenhead is a must-visit for any ramen enthusiast or Japanese food lover. Their dedication to creating delicious, authentic dishes is evident in every bite. So, if you find yourself in Cape Town and craving some amazing ramen, make sure to stop by Ramenhead. You won’t be disappointed!

Hey there, fellow ramen enthusiasts! Get ready to have your taste buds transported all the way to Japan without leaving Cape Town. I’m thrilled to announce that Ramenhead, a brand new ramen joint, is about to grace our city with its presence. And trust me, this is not your average ramen spot!

Opening its doors on December 13th, Ramenhead is the brainchild of acclaimed chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss. You may recognize them as the masterminds behind the incredible Japanese-fusion restaurant, FYN. These culinary geniuses know a thing or two about creating mind-blowing flavors, and now they’re bringing their expertise to the world of ramen.

You’ll find Ramenhead conveniently located downstairs from FYN at Speakers Corner. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by the work of the talented designer Tristan du Plessis from Studio A. He’s transformed the space into a lively, relaxed environment, perfect for slurping down bowls of deliciousness. Whether you prefer indoor or outdoor seating, or maybe even cozying up at the bar, Ramenhead has got you covered.

What’s really exciting is that Ramenhead features an open kitchen, where you can watch the magic happen. Picture this: while you’re waiting in anticipation, you’ll witness each bowl of ramen being expertly assembled right before your eyes. The aroma alone will have your mouth watering in no time.

In our noodle lab, dedicated chefs in white coats operate the Yamamoto Noodle Machine – a one-of-a-kind machine found only in Africa. My partner, Moss, and I went on a ramen-tasting adventure through Osaka and Tokyo, bringing back the best ramen styles and techniques we could find. Believe it or not, we tasted up to 16 bowls of ramen a day!

Creating ramen is a precise and technical art. Some ramen houses in Japan don’t even allow talking while eating! But at the heart of it, ramen should be quick, affordable, filling, restorative, and most importantly, fun. We want to bring all of these elements to the people of Cape Town.

For Moss, the opening of Ramenhead is a dream come true. His fascination with Japanese culture began in his childhood, and this is just one more exciting chapter in his journey.

I’m standing in the kitchen with Chef Julia du Toit, who just left her position as head chef of Tempelhoff’s beyond restaurant at Buitenverwachting. She’s here to join me in preparing some delicious food.

At Ramenhead, we have an incredible variety of ramen for you to choose from. We offer classic pork broth, pork-free chicken broth, and vegetarian broth, along with seasonal twists and exciting specials. Whether you prefer traditional or gluten-free noodles, we’ve got you covered.

Our menu doesn’t stop at ramen. We also serve mouthwatering Japanese snacks like fried chicken karaage and gyoza dumplings. And to quench your thirst, we have a carefully curated selection of wines, beers, and cocktails.

We’re open for lunch and dinner every day except Sundays and Mondays. No reservations needed – just come on in and enjoy the vibrant street food experience that we offer at Ramenhead.

So, get this. The new Ramenhead joint just opened up, and let me tell you, it’s a big deal. Just a few months ago, the owner’s other place, FYN, was named the best restaurant in Africa and number 37 in the world. That’s no small feat, my friend.

Oh, and here’s a little bonus for you. If you find yourself flying solo in Cape Town, I’ve got some killer suggestions for things to do all by your lonesome. Trust me, you won’t be bored!
