Nestled under the shade of two magnificent oak trees on Main Road in the vibrant town of Paarl, our cozy bistro has become a beloved local spot since chef Zian Oosthuizen took over seven years ago. As a native of Paarl, Zian has a deep appreciation for the region’s seasonal bounty, and his unpretentious approach to cooking brings out the vibrant flavors that will leave a lasting impression.
Hey there! I wanted to share something really cool with you about a restaurant I recently discovered called Noop. They have this amazing approach to sourcing their ingredients that I’ve never seen before. Instead of getting their fruits and veggies from faraway places, they actually get them from nearby farms. How awesome is that?
But it doesn’t stop there. Noop also grows some of their own herbs in their very own garden. Can you believe it? That means the fresh flavors in their dishes are as good as they can possibly get. I love it when restaurants take that extra step to ensure quality.
Now, when it comes to meat, Noop has got you covered too. They handpick their meat every day from a local butcher called Goede Hoop Vleis. And let me tell you, this butcher is no ordinary butcher. They have this incredible selection of meats, like free-range Karoo lamb and Chalmar beef that’s been matured for 32 days. Talk about attention to detail!
So, what’s on the menu at Noop?
When you come to our restaurant, you will find a menu filled with delicious and satisfying meat dishes. We offer a range of mouth-watering options that will leave you wanting more. From the succulent Kalahari springbok loin to the crispy free-range duck and the indulgent pork belly, there is something for everyone. You can also choose from a variety of steak cuts and pair them with your favorite sauce. And if you’re in the mood for a burger, our homemade free-range beef burger is a must-try.
But don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about our vegetarian guests. We have a delectable creamy mushroom risotto that will satisfy your taste buds.
If you’re a seafood lover, we recommend trying our Thai red prawn curry. The flavors are simply incredible.
After enjoying your main course, make sure to save some room for dessert. Our dessert options are simply irresistible. Indulge in our couverture-chocolate tart with homemade Madagascan vanilla bean ice-cream. Or if you’re in the mood for something more traditional, try our Mzansi: a delightful malva pudding with vanilla anglaise and homemade koeksister ice-cream.
Wine lovers, this is for you
If you love wine, you’re in for a treat at this place. Not only do they have an incredible collection of wines from famous places like Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek, but they also have some hidden gems from Elgin, Stanford, Cape Agulhas, and Cederburg. You can even find organic wines here. And if you’re into international wines, they have a great selection from France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Chile. Talk about a wine lover’s dream!
But that’s not all. This place also has a special cellar list curated by the owner, featuring vintages that go all the way back to 1965. So, if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion, why not go all out and treat yourself to a bottle of French champagne?
