Let me tell you about Cape Town central’s seaside suburb. It has seen its fair share of changes over the years. Some days it’s buzzing with activity, while other days it’s quiet. Right now, it’s back in the spotlight and everyone’s talking about it. As a local, I want to show you some of my favorite spots in this charming neighborhood.
Hey there! I’m a co-owner of the Dairy Den, and I wanted to talk to you about something important – the power of social media. Picture this: you’re scrolling through your feed, and you see a mouthwatering photo of a delicious ice cream sundae. Your taste buds start tingling, and suddenly you’re craving something sweet.
That’s the beauty of social media – it’s like a doorway to a world of food possibilities. It has the ability to ignite our desires and tempt us into trying something new. All it takes is one beautifully crafted image to make our mouths water and our cravings kick in.
But here’s the thing – social media can be a tricky beast. While it has the power to elevate our experiences and generate excitement, it can also be a double-edged sword. Just as it can inspire us to try new things, it can also leave us feeling overwhelmed and dissatisfied. The constant barrage of mouthwatering photos can sometimes lead to unrealistic expectations and disappointment when reality doesn’t quite measure up.
So, when it comes to food, how do we navigate this digital world? How do we separate the hype from the real deal?
Choosing the right food experience is all about understanding what you’re really looking for. Are you seeking a quick fix, or do you want something that will truly satisfy your cravings? Are you willing to sacrifice taste for presentation, or do you want a meal that looks as good as it tastes?
It’s important to remember that looks can be deceiving. Just because a dish looks incredible on Instagram doesn’t mean it will taste amazing in real life. And vice versa – sometimes the most delicious food is far from photogenic. So, don’t get caught up in the aesthetics alone.
When it comes to interpreting food posts on social media, keep in mind that what you see is a curated version of reality. Filters, angles, and lighting can all play a role in creating the perfect shot. That stunning ice cream sundae may have taken hours to stage, with the melting ice cream carefully timed for that picture-perfect moment.
If you’re looking for food experiences that go beyond the hype, my advice is simple: trust your instincts. Follow your gut (pun intended) and seek out genuine recommendations from trusted sources. Don’t be afraid to try something new or explore different cuisines.
By following this approach, you’ll elevate your food journey and discover hidden gems that may not be trending on social media. So, the next time you’re tempted by a mouthwatering photo, take a moment to consider the bigger picture. Let your taste buds guide you, and remember that the best food experiences are the ones that leave you satisfied and fulfilled, both on and offline.
My sister Tasia and I decided to open our very own ice-cream parlor last year, taking after our grandfather, Andreas Spheris, who came all the way from Greece in 1947 and started churning out delicious ice cream. When I was growing up, my birthday cakes were always made of ice cream, and my dad took great joy in making them for me. My friends loved them, too! We chose Sea Point as the location for our shop because it gives off a constant holiday vibe. It’s a beachy area that feels like vacation all year round. These days, Sea Point has become quite the hotspot. Along the main road, you can find just about anything your heart desires. Regent Road has a hipster vibe, and The Point Centre is perfect for families. It’s incredible to see so many people strolling around. There are endless options for dining out, from classic spots like Posticino to trendy newcomers like Three Wise Monkeys. And when it comes to dessert, nothing beats a gourmet soft-serve from Dairy Den!
If you’re ever in the area, be sure to swing by our parlour at 148 Main Road. We’re always here to serve you with a smile. You can reach us at 0764019895 if you have any questions or just want to chat. We can’t wait to see you!

Welcome to Mojo Market Seapoint! My name is Pam Warrington, and I’m the Marketing Manager here. This market is truly something special, created by the brilliant minds of Graeme Robinson and Robbie Lessem. They own the Mojo Hotel just above the market and decided to turn this retail space into a unique and creative hub that focuses on delicious food and locally designed goods.
Every day, I start my morning with a large flat white from the Bagel & Coffee Company. The baristas there are incredibly friendly, and the best part is, the Wi-Fi is free! I also have a weakness for ice cream, and Baskin Robbins at Mojo Market serves the most heavenly pralines and cream flavor. It’s like tiny angels dancing on your tongue!
When it comes to drinks, Mojo Market has got you covered. Their bar offers a variety of cocktails, and I must admit, I absolutely love their strawberry daiquiris. And if cocktails aren’t your thing, they also have an impressive selection of craft beers. The best part is that there’s always plenty of space, so you can easily find a seat. Plus, with live music playing every night and breathtaking sea views, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your drink.
