Membeso : Ndumiso & Smangele
We met through social media.
He used to admire my strength as a woman in business and one day I commented with hearts on his post about his tattoos and it started there.
Long chats on Facebook until he asked for my numbers, this was 2017, August.
I went to go do a tattoo at his shop (well 4 tattoos at once, I wanted him to notice me ??), after that he then asked me out, our first date to many.
After several outing and him hitting on me, I would always tell him I’m not ready for a relationship until one day he sat me down and asked me if he was wasting his time. From that moment I knew God gave me a persistent, a persevering and patient man. I fell in love from that moment.
He took me to his home after a month of dating, I remember when I met his uncles, they predicted that the lobola would be the follow year just before December and we were both not in a rush (I mean, it was still new).
Fast forward to this year around June, when he told me he wants to send his uncles to my home. I was shocked yho, he started saving, he confirmed a date of the lobola negotiations, which was Oct 12th. We were excited, the planning started and everything turned out perfectly. From food to dessert, outfits, tent setup, cake, the photographer, the dj, everything was amazing.
Our wedding is set to happen 2021 Feb and I am so excited to start planning.
What Was Your Favourite Aspect Of The Day?
When he proposed! He said in Zulu, the sweetest things I’ve ever heard him say.
Oh and when my uncles asked his uncles to point at the woman they think is their bride and their response was, “We can point our Ramate bride all the way from KZN whilst she’s in Johannesburg” ??
What Would You Change in Hindsight?
What Advice Would You Give to Future Brides?
I’m still planning my wedding day that’s in 2021, but I’d say plan in advance. Nothing will stress you like last minute hiccups, they will drive you insane. You will end up not enjoying your day.
Prepare yourself for the transition you’re about to enter. No one can tell you how marriage is but you can always prepare yourself for what’s yours.
