My First Voyage on the Magnificent MSC Bellissima
Wow, I can’t believe it! I’m finally going on my very first cruise, and not just any cruise, but one aboard the stunning MSC Bellissima! I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure. The anticipation is almost too much to handle!
As I step on board the ship, I am immediately struck by its grandeur and beauty. The decor is exquisite, with elegant furnishings and a sense of luxury in every detail. I can already tell that this journey is going to be something special.
Exploring the ship, I am amazed by the range of activities and amenities available. There’s something for everyone, from exhilarating water slides to relaxing spa treatments. I am particularly drawn to the state-of-the-art fitness center, where I can maintain my workout routine even at sea. And of course, there are plenty of dining options to satisfy any craving I might have. The choices are overwhelming, but in the best possible way!
During the day, I find myself lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun and enjoying the refreshing sea breeze. The atmosphere is lively, with music playing and people laughing and having a good time. It feels like a true vacation paradise.
As the sun sets, the ship comes alive with entertainment. I am treated to incredible shows, from Broadway-style productions to live music performances. The talent on board is truly impressive, and I find myself getting lost in the magic of it all.
Of course, one of the highlights of any cruise is the opportunity to visit different ports of call. I step off the ship and find myself in a new and exciting destination, ready to discover all it has to offer. Whether it’s exploring ancient ruins, shopping for souvenirs, or simply taking in the local culture, each stop is a unique and memorable experience.
But what truly sets this journey apart is the level of service and hospitality on board the MSC Bellissima. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that every moment is perfect. They are attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with a smile. I truly feel like a valued guest, and it makes all the difference.
Reflecting on my time on the MSC Bellissima, I am filled with a sense of wonder and gratitude. Words cannot fully capture the joy and amazement I felt during this journey. It was a dream come true, an experience that will stay with me forever.
So if you’re like me and have been dreaming of a cruise, I highly recommend setting sail on the MSC Bellissima. It is an adventure like no other, a chance to create memories that will last a lifetime. Don’t miss out on this incredible journey!
Have you ever seen an MSC cruise ship sailing on the waters of South Africa? They’re a common sight, and I was lucky enough to board one myself. The ship was called Bellissima, and it had just come out of the shipyard, all shiny and new. Its first journey was from France to the UK, crossing the English Channel.
Hey there! Did you know that ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes is the reason we have cruises? It’s true! One day, while taking a bath, Archimedes had a brilliant idea. He discovered the law of buoyancy, which states that if the weight of the water displaced by an object is equal to or greater than the weight of the object itself, then the object will float. Can you imagine how excited he must have been? Archimedes was so thrilled that he jumped out of the tub and ran through the streets shouting “eureka,” which means “I have found it” in Greek.
Thanks to Archimedes’ discovery, we now have magnificent cruise ships like the MSC Bellissima. This incredible ship takes travelers on amazing voyages around the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and Asia. And it’s not just a regular ship – the MSC Bellissima is equipped with advanced technology to reduce emissions and has state-of-the-art waste management and recycling systems. So you can have a fantastic time while also being kind to the environment.
So, next time you’re on a cruise and enjoying the beautiful views, take a moment to think about Archimedes and his “eureka” moment. It’s amazing how one brilliant idea can change the world!
I couldn’t help but marvel at the incredible impact that his discovery had on maritime travel as our bus came to a stop in the ship-building port of Saint-Nazaire, France, while gazing up at the magnificent Bellissima, the latest luxury liner by MSC Cruises. Despite my tendency to get seasick and the description of cruise liners as “floating hotels” accommodating countless passengers, I’ve always had a longing to go on an ocean cruise. And it seems like I’m not the only one… the numbers tell us that by the end of 2019, millions of South Africans will have experienced the thrill of a cruise.
As I eagerly embarked on my journey, I bounded up the staircase, carrying my small bag. Surprisingly, I was greeted by two friendly young individuals from South Africa who were working at the security checkpoint. Like me, they were delighted to see a fellow South African, and after confirming that I was a passenger, they cheerfully waved me into the reception area. As I bid farewell to my travel companions, which included MSC staff from South Africa, we were all filled with anticipation as we embarked on the maiden voyage of the magnificent Bellissima from France to the UK.
This was no ordinary journey. Bellissima was being transported to Southampton to embark on her new career at sea. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the godmother of the MSC cruise fleet, Sophia Loren, would be present to christen the ship. Excitement filled the air as we embarked on this remarkable adventure together.
My Balcony Cabin felt just like a regular hotel room, but with a unique twist. It was fresh and spotless, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement as I realized I was the first person to stay in Cabin 11356 on Deck 11. Curled up on the cozy sofa, I delved into the information brochures and couldn’t help but marvel at the incredible organization required to operate a cruise ship that can hold up to 5,686 guests and 1,564 crew members.
When I step onto Deck 5 of MSC Bellissima, I’m immediately struck by the breathtaking view of the Infinity Atrium. Below me is the bustling reception area, while above me is the elegant Galleria Bellissima. This is where everything happens – a vibrant promenade filled with shops and restaurants, all bathed in the glowing light of an LED sky. It truly is the heart and soul of the ship.
MSC Bellissima is an incredible feat of engineering and design. Spanning 19 decks, this magnificent vessel covers an area equivalent to a mind-boggling 63 football pitches. As I walk around, I can’t help but be amazed by the sheer size and scope of it all.
The ship boasts a staggering array of amenities. There are four pools, perfect for cooling off on a hot day or splashing around with friends and family. And when hunger strikes, you won’t be disappointed. With 12 restaurants to choose from, there’s something to satisfy every craving. And let’s not forget about the bars and lounges – a total of 20! One of them even offers an impressive selection of 20 different types of Champagne, ensuring there’s always a reason to raise a glass and celebrate.
But it’s not just the food and drink that impresses me. The attention to detail is truly remarkable. Each day, a dedicated team onboard creates a staggering 15,000 fresh croissants. That’s right, 15,000! It’s hard to imagine the amount of work that goes into ensuring every passenger has the opportunity to enjoy a delicious, flaky croissant each day.
MSC Bellissima is a marvel in every sense of the word. It’s a world within itself, offering endless opportunities for exploration, relaxation, and entertainment. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or embarking on your first cruise, this ship is sure to leave a lasting impression.
I had the pleasure of having Zoe, the voice-enabled cruise assistant developed by MSC, accompany me during my stay in the cabin. Zoe proved to be invaluable, with her ability to understand seven different languages and her vast knowledge base. I was amazed to learn that she had already answered over two million questions during testing. And she even came to my rescue when I was searching for the elusive hair dryer.
After a refreshing hot shower in the compact yet elegantly designed bathroom, I was ready to explore the ship. The Galleria Bellissima, a two-level indoor promenade, was the heart and soul of the ship. Its captivating LED-screen ceiling mesmerized me with stunning visuals, ranging from beautiful graphic designs to breathtaking night skies and landscapes. As I made my way up the main staircase adorned with sparkling Swarovski crystals (a staggering 640 crystals on each step), I felt like I was stepping into a luxurious shopping center adorned with photographers in sharp suits. They seemed to be at every corner, capturing the essence of the ship.
When I first saw the photographers, I thought a famous person must be around. Maybe Sophia Loren or Andrea and Matteo Bocelli, who performed at the naming ceremony. But it turns out they were there for all of us passengers. You wouldn’t believe how many different poses the determined photographer had me try out!
As I stepped onto the London Theatre on Deck 6, my excitement rose. It was my first night on a cruise, and I couldn’t wait to see what was in store. The image of the evening’s entertainment captured my attention, and I was eager to immerse myself in the experience.
I headed towards the TV Studio and Bar, where my colleagues were enjoying cocktails and the glamorous atmosphere. We laughed and chatted as we sipped our drinks, soaking in the excitement of the moment. But our night was just beginning.
We made our way to the Lighthouse Restaurant, anticipation building as we gazed out of the window. Through the glass, we watched as the thick mooring lines were untied, setting the stage for the start of our journey on the magnificent Bellissima.
As the ship began to glide away from the pier, a sense of energy filled our group. We could feel the anticipation in the air, the promise of adventure and new experiences. It was a moment that made us feel alive.
It was really great to have everything I wanted all in one place when I was on the go. I didn’t have to stress about packing my suitcase for a flight or driving to the next stop. My daily routine of going to the gym, taking walks, and reading was made even better with little indulgences like getting to try free samples at the five unique restaurants and being served fancy-looking drinks by the waitstaff in the lounges during sunset. And when I started feeling a bit tired, I could easily go back to my room just a few minutes away.
Wow, check out this photo! It’s taken on the Galleria Bellissima, where Sophia Loren is standing next to the ship’s captain, Raffaele Pontecorvo. They’re on the bridge, surrounded by all the screens on the ship. How cool is that?
Being honest, I got lost a lot in the maze of hallways. But after some time, I developed a sort of sixth sense for knowing which way to go, or a steward would graciously point me in the right direction. Someone recommended that I download the MSC For Me app on my phone, which has a fancy map of the ship that really helped me find my way around. The app also sent me notifications about events, like live shows, and the MSC for Me Chat allowed me to make plans with my friends I was traveling with. Plus, there were these cool interactive screens on the ship that showed me where the speciality restaurants were and even a massive 80-meter-long Himalayan suspension bridge. It’s super high – 60 meters above the sea – so I just watched from afar as some brave passengers tried it out.
So, I was on this amazing cruise along the coast of France. We sailed for a whole day, passing by Ushant Island, a rocky mass located at the southwestern end of the English Channel. It’s about 15 square kilometers in size, and let me tell you, it’s quite a sight to behold.
The next morning, as we approached the Isle of Wight, a pilot came aboard our ship, Bellissima, to help us navigate through The Solent. Now, The Solent is a busy strait that’s used by all sorts of vessels – military, freight, passenger, and even for these epic yachting regattas, like Cowes Week. Talk about a busy waterway!
By 8am, we finally docked in Southampton, and I couldn’t wait to step foot on land. I decided to explore the Central Business District (CBD) of Southampton. However, I have to say, the CBD looked a bit worn-out and gloomy compared to the glitzy atmosphere on the ship. It was like going from bright lights to a gray cloud.
As I explored Galleria Bellissima, I stumbled upon a fascinating sight – Japanese kabuki on the bridge. The vibrant colors and lively performances captured my attention and created a wonderful atmosphere. It was a unique experience that added to the allure of the promenade.
When it was time to go back to the ship, I didn’t have to worry about any complications. Thanks to my trusty cruise card, the whole process was quick and effortless. This card was like a magical key that granted me access to everything I needed. It served as my room key, wallet, and even allowed me to make onboard purchases by loading it with credit. It was such a convenient way to keep track of my expenses.
One of the highlights of my trip was indulging in the mouthwatering chocolate creations by renowned chef Jean-Phillipe Maury. Onboard, there was a chocolaterie where 1.5 tons of chocolate were transformed into delectable treats every month. I treated myself to some creamy macaroons at the French-style cafe, and later, I tried a variety of delightful ice cream flavors at the gelato bar. It was a sweet experience that left me wanting more.
As I strolled along Deck 16 early in the morning, I wasn’t surprised to encounter another South African employee at check-in. Ayanda Gxasheka, a resident of Peddie who relocated to Port Elizabeth in 2012 to pursue a degree in agricultural management at Nelson Mandela University, crossed my path. Ayanda had only been on the job for a few weeks and was diligently cleaning the Horizon Pool, an expansive area on the deck that transforms into an outdoor venue after nightfall.
South African Ayanda Gxasheka is hard at work on the upper deck, sailing the high seas and exploring new horizons. ‘I’ve always had a yearning to travel and experience the world,’ Ayanda shares with me. ‘My qualifications could have landed me a job in the cargo division, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity for a career with the prestigious MSC Group.’
The MSC Group, founded in 1970 with just one ship, has blossomed into a global powerhouse. With a fleet of 510 cargo ships and 16 magnificent luxury liners, it’s safe to say that the MSC Group knows a thing or two about seafaring. While exploring the vast oceans, they have also established a strong connection with South Africa, employing many talented individuals.
As I bask in the charm of Ayanda’s tales, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe. The MSC Group, solely owned by the Aponte family, who have been in the seafaring business since 1675, is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance. It’s no wonder that Ayanda is proud to be part of this incredible legacy.
When it comes to cruising, I can’t help but wonder – would I embark on such an adventure? The answer is a resounding yes! Pass the croissants, please; I’m ready to set sail on a voyage full of wonder and beauty.
When I first stepped on board the MSC Bellissima, I was immediately captivated by the enticing aromas that filled the air. Japanese cuisine was being expertly prepared right before my eyes at Kaito Teppanyaki. The sizzling sounds, the vibrant colors, and the skillful chefs all added to the immersive dining experience.
