Situated in the beautiful coastal area of Mouille Point, Lily’s is the newest addition from The Kove Collection. You may already be familiar with some of their other successful restaurants like The Bungalow, Paranga, Umi, La Belle, Dalliance, Pénéro, and Blanko – just to name a few.

Lily’s is named after Paul Kovensky’s daughter and is lovingly styled by his wife Simone. At Lily’s, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the sea while surrounded by luxurious furnishings and refined interior design. And that’s not all, the menu is a true work of art, carefully crafted to provide you with an unforgettable dining experience.

When I walked into the restaurant, I immediately noticed how open and inviting it felt. The layout was designed in such a way that I could see the bustling kitchen and the chefs hard at work. It was reassuring to know that the food was being prepared right in front of me.

I decided to visit during lunchtime on a weekday, and it became clear to me that Lily’s is not the type of place where business tycoons gather to discuss their latest deals. Instead, it attracts a more relaxed crowd who aren’t in a hurry to go anywhere. People were dressed comfortably, and conversations were casual.

I happened to overhear a conversation between two best friends sitting nearby. They were talking about a special offer on bulk Botox treatments from a doctor in Sea Point. It wasn’t exactly the type of conversation you’d expect to hear during a lunch outing, but it added to the unique charm of Lily’s.

When I walked above the stores, I discovered a shiny, brand new apartment building called East West. I imagined the residents waking up each morning and making their way downstairs to the café for a refreshing drink or a nourishing meal. The café had a fantastic selection of breakfast and lunch options that caught my attention.

What stood out to me the most was how the menus offered a balance between wholesome and indulgent choices. They had clean and healthy options like freshly squeezed juices, green tea, and oats topped with almond butter, almond milk, and banana. But I couldn’t help but notice the decadent treats as well, like fluffy pancakes and French Toast soaked in maple syrup.

A Memorable Broth Experience

When I met up with a friend for lunch, we decided to try out a few different dishes. We started with Gun Show mussels, which turned out to be absolutely delicious. The amazing garlic, thyme, and white-wine broth really stole the show. It had such an incredible flavor that we couldn’t resist asking for bread to soak up every last drop.

Next, we tried the biltong carpaccio. While it was good, it didn’t quite live up to our excitement. It was a decent dish, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression like the mussels did.

For our main course, we opted for the Just Keep Slimming. This dish consisted of grilled hake, cauliflower couscous, and shallots. It was a great choice for those looking for a healthy option. The protein-packed hake and the flavorful couscous were perfectly balanced, giving us a satisfying meal without any guilt.

Lastly, we tried the toasted Hot Pastrami on rye. While we enjoyed it, we felt that it could have used some tangy pickles to give it a bit more of a kick.

Overall, our lunch experience was quite memorable, thanks to the outstanding Gun Show mussels and the well-balanced Just Keep Slimming. It’s amazing how a simple dish can leave such a lasting impression.
