Welcome to Le Grand Domaine Enoteca: A refined wine bar in Stellenbosch
Step foot into our historical Church Street wine bar for an unforgettable experience.
The vibrant wine scene in Stellenbosch is flourishing, with charming café tables dotting the sidewalks beneath the lush oak trees. Amidst these delightful options, lies Le Grand Domaine Enoteca. This exceptional establishment is a collaboration between two exquisite wine estates, Grand Vin de Stellenbosch and Stellenview Wines, located in the scenic Devon Valley. Our purpose is to provide a haven to showcase the splendid offering of our premium wines. Whether you wish to enjoy a simple tasting or indulge in a leisurely meal, our warm and inviting space will cater to your desires.
A harmonious blend of relaxation and luxury
Enoteca is an Italian term that translates to “wine library,” a place where you can taste and learn about local wines. Imagine walking into a stylish, contemporary country-house drawing room, filled with books and wine bottles displayed in glass cabinets.
This Enoteca is situated in a historic Stellenbosch building, with its characteristic tall sash windows, high ceilings, and charming features. The interior is adorned with leather banquette seating, wooden chairs, oak tables, and a beautiful marble-topped bar. Outside, you’ll find window boxes brimming with vibrant geraniums, overlooking a spacious pavement adorned with oak trees and shaded tables.
Discovering the world of wine
Hey there! So, here’s the deal: we’ve got a pretty awesome wine selection with around 40 different wines from our two estates. We’ve got all sorts of wines for you to try, like Bordeaux-style reds, Provence-inspired rosé, single varietals, and old-vine chenin. These wines are mostly exported, so this is your chance to taste some hand-crafted gems that you might not find in your local wine shop. Our labels include Grand Vin de Stellenbosch, The Pledge, Kruger Family, Kenzo Faure Kruger Wines, Stellenview, Great Five, and Cape Five.
Now, when it comes to trying the wines, you’ve got a few options. You can order them by the bottle, glass, or try a little tasting portion. This is perfect if you want to sample a few different wines with your meal. We’ve also got something called a Tasting Flight, which lets you try five different wines. It’s a great way to compare the different labels and find your favorites. And don’t worry, we’ve got eight different options to choose from, so there’s something for everyone. You can go for whites only, reds only, specific red varietals, or even a mix from one label.
Time for some tasty bites
Hey there! The menu at this cozy little bistro is meant to go perfectly with their selection of wines, and it changes depending on the season. They don’t divide the dishes into starters and mains – instead, they offer a variety of tasty plates in different sizes that you can share or have all to yourself.
Some of their best dishes include basil gnocchi, beetroot ravioli, papillote de poisson, tender Patagonian squid with zesty lemon and garlic, and a juicy rib-eye steak topped with café de Paris butter. They also have fresh and delicious seasonal salads, and for dessert, you can choose between a scrumptious apple tarte tatin and a velvety white chocolate crème brûlée.
But if you’re just looking for a quick snack, you can indulge in a generous cheese and charcuterie board stacked with delicious goodies, served with a crispy baguette to go along with your wine tasting experience. And if you’re feeling fancy, why not treat yourself to some fresh Saldanha oysters paired with a glass or two of their exquisite Grand Vin de Stellenbosch MCC?
