However, you’ll soon discover that this place offers so much more. In fact, your whole family can easily spend an entire half-day here and never run out of things to do.

The first stop on our adventure is the La Motte tasting room. Step inside and prepare to indulge in the delectable flavors of their exquisite wines. The tasting room at La Motte is remarkable. It’s huge, with plenty of space for big groups. You can sit at long tables or cozy up on the couches by the windows. The ladies who lead the wine tastings are fantastic – they know their stuff and they’re really friendly. And when it’s cold outside, you can curl up next to the fireplace. One of the cool things about the tastings is that they give you two wines at a time, so you can compare them. And if you feel like taking a break from the tasting, you can wander into the maturation room. It’s a great place to explore.
So, I haven’t had the chance to actually eat at this place, but I have to tell you that their cappuccinos are absolutely delicious. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. What’s really cool about the interior is that they have these prints by Pierneef on the backs of some of the chairs. And get this – their chandeliers are made out of broken pieces of china! How unique is that?
Now, what I really love about this place is that they have both a cozy inside area and a beautiful outdoor terrace. So, it’s perfect no matter what the season – whether you want to enjoy the warm weather outside or cozy up indoors. Plus, they have this stream nearby that’s a big hit with the kids in the summertime. Oh, and the restaurant even provides towels for when the kids decide to take a break from the water. How thoughtful is that?
Now, let me tell you about the La Motte farm shop…
Wow, you don’t see this kind of thing very often at wine farms. But don’t worry, it’s still going to be amazing. The shop has all sorts of stuff, like blind wine tasting sets, the entire La Motte range, corkscrews, linen, preserves, sweet treats, spices, classy water bottles, and even flour. They really know how to make things look good – everything is so nicely labeled and packaged. When you step outside, you’ll spot fresh proteas if it’s the right time of year, and there’s a big grassy lawn with a huge chess set off to the side. I hear it’s fun for the kids and the grown-ups. They even have painting kits and a special area just for the kids to get artsy. How cool is that?
