Let me tell you about Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. It was founded way back in 1913 to protect rare plants and animals in our country. The garden is amazing, covering a massive 36 hectares on the slopes of Table Mountain in Newlands. You’ll be blown away by the beautiful plants and animals there – there are over 7,000 different species!
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is not just a pretty place, it’s also a great spot for a day out. You can relax, learn, and have fun all at once!

If you want a truly amazing view of the garden, you have to try the Boomslang Canopy Walk. It’s a long walkway made of timber and steel, and it’s about 130 meters long. Even if you use a wheelchair, you can still enjoy this walk because it’s accessible to all. When you’re up there, you’ll be amazed by the incredible perspective you get from above the trees. Nature lovers will especially appreciate this, and if you love birds and animals, you’ll be thrilled by the wide variety that calls this place home.
6. Visit the nursery and buy some plants
If you’re looking to give your garden a little makeover, now is the perfect time! Lockdown has provided us with the opportunity to focus on our gardens, and at Kirstenbosch Garden Centre, you’ll find everything you need to make it beautiful. Whether you’re in need of bulbs, succulents, groundcovers, trees, shrubs, climbers, fynbos plants, or herbaceous plants, you’ll find it here. You can even find fresh-cut flowers, gardening accessories, tools, and a wide range of eco-friendly products like compost, fertilizers, insecticides, and fungicides. The staff at Kirstenbosch Garden Centre are knowledgeable and eager to assist you with any questions or advice you may need.
