It’s a fascinating place to visit! The museum is connected to the Inhaca Marine Biology Research Station, which includes laboratories, a herbarium, research rooms, a library, and accommodations for researchers.

How to Get There

The morning ferry to Inhaca Island offers breathtaking views. You can still travel to Mozambique, as long as you show a negative covid test taken within three days of arrival. To get to Inhaca, you’ll need to take a ferry from Maputo. The ferry departs at 7:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and at 11 am on Fridays. It returns from Inhaca at 3 pm on each of these days.

The ticket costs 280mtn (R62) for one-way travel. Keep in mind that you’ll also need an extra 30mtn (R7) to pay for the small boats on the Inhaca side. These boats will transport you from the ferry to the shore, since the ferry can’t dock at the pier. Be prepared to wade through knee-high water, so wear appropriate clothing.

Upon arrival in Inhaca, there’s an island conservation tax of 200mtn (R400) that you must pay.
