Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

Hey there! I’m Pippa de Bruyn, a professional reviewer who loves to explore different places and share my experiences with you. Today, I want to talk about TripAdvisor, a website that’s been a go-to for many travelers looking for recommendations.

Now, don’t get me wrong, TripAdvisor can be really helpful when planning a trip. It’s packed with reviews from people who have been there and done that. But here’s the thing – sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming.

Let me explain. When you’re trying to decide where to stay, you want to find a place that fits your needs and preferences, right? But with TripAdvisor, it can be a challenge to find that perfect match because the reviews are all different. One person might love a place, while another person might hate it. It’s like getting a bunch of opinions from different people but not really having a single, consistent voice to guide you.

That’s where I come in. I’ve taken on the task of finding the best places to stay in Montagu, a charming village in South Africa’s Klein Karoo region. I decided to use TripAdvisor as a starting point, but then I went out and personally checked out 34 of the top-ranked options in the Hotel, B&B/Inn, and Speciality Lodgings categories. I even looked at a few new places that weren’t listed on TripAdvisor.

So, what does this mean for you? Well, it means that you can trust my recommendations because I’ve actually been there and seen it for myself. I’ve done all the hard work of sifting through the options and identifying the best of the best. You won’t find a more reliable and trustworthy guide to the best places to stay in Montagu.

Whether you’re looking for a cozy bed and breakfast, a luxurious hotel, or a unique specialty lodging, I’ve got you covered. Stay tuned for my recommendations and get ready to have an amazing stay in Montagu!

One of the things that makes Montagu so special is its tranquil and authentic semi-rural atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can truly relax and unwind. The pace is slow, the people are friendly, and there’s just something magical about the air here.

Another great thing about Montagu is that it’s small and safe enough to explore on foot. You can take leisurely evening strolls along the town’s quiet streets, and it’s a real treat to walk to a restaurant for a delicious meal. It’s the perfect opportunity to soak in the peaceful ambiance and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Best Rooms and Delicious Breakfasts

The Vineyard Country House

TripAdvisor ranking: No. 1 out of 24 (B&B/Inns)

Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

When I visited The Vineyard Country House, I was immediately struck by the beautifully decorated rooms and the delicious breakfasts. Pippa, a fellow traveler, also agrees that this charming bed and breakfast stands out from the rest.

Hey there! I gotta tell you, TripAdvisor reviewers really hit the nail on the head with this one. This B&B in Montagu is absolutely top-notch. Let me tell you why.

First of all, the bedrooms here are pure elegance. They’re beautifully designed and decorated, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. I’ve stayed in B&Bs all over the place, and I can confidently say that the gourmet breakfasts they serve here are the best I’ve ever had. Seriously, they’re like a work of art. And get this – they serve it in three courses! It’s a breakfast fit for a king.

Now, let’s talk about the rooms themselves. Each one has its own semi-private lounge-terrace area, which is a pretty cool feature. Plus, you’ll have a stunning view of the vineyards right from your bedroom window. Louise Smith and Lauren Zarges, the owners of this place, have really gone above and beyond with the furnishings. They’ve collected beautiful pieces from auctions to give each room its own unique charm.

Oh, and did I mention the space? There’s plenty of it here. Unlike some B&Bs where you have to share public areas with the owners, that’s not the case at this place. Louise and Lauren actually live off-site at the bottom of the vineyard, so you’ll have all the room you need to relax and enjoy your stay. And the cherry on top? They’ve got a big ol’ swimming pool right in the middle of the vineyards. Talk about taking a dip in style!

Now, I should let you know that they do offer four-course dinners on some nights. If that sounds like your kind of thing, you’ll want to ask about it when booking. Just a little heads up!

One small thing you might want to keep in mind is that the B&B is located close to the main road. So during the day, you might hear some trucks rumbling by. But don’t worry – at night, it’s as quiet as a mouse. So you can rest easy and enjoy your peaceful slumber.

All in all, I can confidently say that this place is top of the line. The beautiful rooms, the incredible breakfasts, the spaciousness, and the relaxing pool – everything just comes together perfectly. If you’re looking for a memorable stay in Montagu, this B&B is the way to go.

Here’s a tip for your room: You can choose any room at this place and you won’t go wrong. But if I were you, I would try to book Room 5. It’s the most private room they have, and it even comes with an outdoor shower and a big, fancy bed made of wrought-iron.
How much does it cost to stay here? It ranges from R450 to R650 per person per night if you’re sharing the room with someone. They can also make arrangements for children under 12 if you need.

But why is this ranking so important? Well, there are a few factors to consider. First, TripAdvisor is a trusted source for travel information. People from all over the world share their experiences and opinions, so you can get a wide range of perspectives. Second, the ranking is based on reviews and ratings from real customers. Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

Imagine standing in an olive grove, with the magnificent Langeberg Mountains towering in the distance. It’s a breathtaking view that can be enjoyed right from the comfort of your own patio. That’s right, five of our rooms come with their very own outdoor space, complete with cozy chairs. You can sit back, relax, and soak in the beauty that surrounds you.

I’m excited to tell you about the amazing garden rooms at this place I know. Picture this: you’ve got eight garden rooms in two wings, surrounded by beautiful lawns and shaded by oak and milkwood trees. And let’s not forget the incredible view of the Langeberg Mountains from the olive grove in the background. Can you imagine anything more picturesque?

Now, let me break it down for you. Out of those eight rooms, six have their own patio with chairs. That means you can sip your morning coffee while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The other two rooms also have private patios, but they overlook the garden instead of the mountains. Either way, you’re in for a treat.

But wait, there’s more! Each room has its own entrance, which is always a plus in my book. And get this – they all have fireplaces ready to be lit. Imagine cozying up by the fire after a long day of exploring.

Now, let’s talk about the splash pool. It may be tiny, but it’s perfectly situated with the same stunning views. You can relax in the pool with a glass of wine, expertly provided by the kind and diligent hostess, Ursula Blamey. Trust me, she knows how to make you feel like royalty.

And here’s the cherry on top: there are fantastic restaurants just a short 10 to 15 minute walk away. So, if you ever feel like treating yourself to a delicious meal, you don’t have to go far.

So, there you have it: the garden rooms at this place are truly something special. From the breathtaking views to the cozy fireplaces and the convenient location, it’s the perfect getaway. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Tip for your room: Make sure you choose one with a beautiful view.
Price: From September to April, the bed and breakfast rate is R450 per person per night when sharing a room. From May to August, the rate is R415 per person per night when sharing a room. Please note that this establishment does not allow children under the age of 12.

A fantastic guest farm where children and pets are welcome

4. Rainbow Glen

TripAdvisor rating: Ranked No.14 out of 26 specialty lodgings

Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

I have to say, Rainbow Glen takes the prize when it comes to breathtaking beauty. Nestled in the midst of lush green lawns and surrounded by majestic mountains, it’s a sight you won’t want to miss. This place may not be dripping in luxury, but let me tell you, the views alone are worth their weight in gold. With just seven cozy units, each one boasting its own outdoor sitting area and barbecue spot, you’ll have all the space you need to unwind and soak in the tranquility. The amenities and finishes are simple, but everything is clean and well-maintained. And the best part? It’s super affordable.

One thing I love about Rainbow Glen is that it’s run by a warm and welcoming family who know exactly how to cater to families like mine. They’ve got bunnies and chickens hopping around, a play area for the little ones, and a cool pool that’s an instant hit with kids (and adults too, if I’m being honest). Oh, and did I mention they even allow well-behaved pets? Yep, your furry friends are more than welcome to join in on the fun.

Hey there, I wanted to share some awesome accommodation options with you. There are a couple of incredible rooms that I think you’ll love. Let me tell you more!

Room tip:

First up, there are three fantastic rooms I’d recommend. One is called Muskadel, and it’s a stand-alone room that can sleep eight people across three bedrooms. It’s spacious and comfortable, perfect for a big group. Next is Almond. It’s located at the end and can sleep four guests. Almond is cozy and charming, making it a great choice for a smaller party. Lastly, there’s Prospect. It’s also a stand-alone room, but it’s meant for two people. Prospect is intimate and inviting, a perfect spot for a romantic getaway.

All of these rooms have kitchenettes, so you can easily whip up a delicious meal if you’re in the mood. And the best part is that they’re all within walking distance to some fantastic restaurants. So, no need to worry about finding a place to eat!

Cost:

Let’s talk about the prices, shall we? Prospect starts at R450 per night. It’s great value for such a lovely cottage. Almond, on the other hand, starts at R600 per night. It’s worth every penny for the cozy feel and excellent location. Lastly, Muskadel starts at R1200 per night. While a bit pricier, it’s perfect for larger groups who want more space and comfort.

If any of these options caught your eye, don’t hesitate to get in touch with rainbowglen.co.za. They’ll be more than happy to help you with any questions you might have and book your stay.

Best small hotel:

5. Mimosa

TripAdvisor ranking: No. 11 of 26 (Speciality Lodging)

Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

I want to tell you about Mimosa, a place that calls itself a guest lodgebut is more like a small hotel. With a yummy restaurant right there and 23 rooms, it’s a cozy spot that functions really well. It’s not as big as Montagu Country Hotel (No.1 Hotel), which has a spa and two pools, but the service is just as good. I like Mimosa more because it has a special vibe, nice decorations, and it’s in a cool old building from a long time ago.

The original 1859 building has nine classic rooms. They’re a great deal, especially if you want a room with a shower. But if you want more space, you should stay in one of the suites in the garden. At Mimosa, they even make their own wine, and you get to try some for free before dinner. The dinner is amazing and the restaurant is one of the best in town, but it’s pretty small so make sure you book in advance.

Cost: If you’re interested in staying at Aasvoëlkrans, you have a few different options to choose from. The B&B Classic room is priced at R1092 for double occupancy, while the B&B Garden Suite is slightly more expensive at R1620 for double occupancy. If you’re hungry, you can enjoy a delicious four-course dinner for an additional R350 per person. If you’re traveling with children, they can stay with you in the room for an extra fee of R150 if they’re between the ages of three and six. Children younger than two can stay for free.

Contact: To book your stay at Aasvoëlkrans, visit their website at mimosa.co.za.

Good value for art enthusiasts and horse lovers

6. Aasvoëlkrans

Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

TripAdvisor ranking: No. 11 of 26 (Speciality Lodging)

Wow, I found another stunning spot! This time, it’s right on the Kingna River. They have four cozy garden cottages, and the decor in each one is so unique and cool. And get this – the cottages are surrounded by a huge Arabian stud farm that covers two hectares. It’s amazing!

What’s even better is that each cottage has its own entrance, so you have all the privacy you need. Plus, one of the cottages can sleep up to four people comfortably. Talk about space!

Oh, and did I mention the pool? It’s absolutely massive. You’ll have a blast swimming in there. And when you’re not taking a dip, you can just relax in the peaceful gardens. Oh, and don’t forget to admire the magnificent horses on the farm. They’re so beautiful!

The only downside is that it’s a bit far to walk to restaurants at night. But don’t worry, everything else is so fantastic that it more than makes up for it.

So, how much does this slice of paradise cost? Well, for bed and breakfast, it’s R450 per person per night if you’re sharing a cottage. If you’re bringing your kids or flying solo, you can contact them to get the rates.

If you’re interested in staying at this amazing place, just head over to aasvoelkrans.co.za to get in touch with them.

7. 4 Seasons

It can be overwhelming to sort through all the options and figure out which one is the best fit for me. That’s why I was thrilled to discover that the place I had my eye on had recently been ranked number one on TripAdvisor’s list of specialty lodgings.

As a traveler, I know how important it is to find a place that meets my specific needs and preferences. It can be frustrating to arrive at a hotel only to find that it doesn’t have the amenities I was hoping for or that the location isn’t as convenient as I had imagined. That’s why TripAdvisor’s rankings are so valuable – they give me confidence that the place I choose will meet my expectations.

Having the number one ranking on TripAdvisor is a big deal. It means that this place has consistently received high ratings and positive reviews from other travelers. People trust the opinions and experiences of fellow travelers, so when a place earns the top spot on the list, it’s a clear indicator that it’s something special.

But what makes this place so special? Well, that’s the great thing about TripAdvisor – it’s not just about the ranking. You can read reviews and get a sense of what makes each place unique. Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

Oh boy, let me tell you about this gem I found tucked away behind a gate on the main retail strip. It’s called Montagu 4 Seasons and it’s heaven on earth. Picture this: three cozy self-catering units, each with its own entrance and barbecue area, all centered around a gorgeous oak tree. It’s like something out of a storybook.

Now, don’t be fooled by the so-called luxury unit for two. The real winners here are the two-bedroom units that go for just R800 a night. They are seriously neat and tidy, with fancy stuff like hand-embroidered linen. It’s clear that the owner-manager, Carina Joubert, put a lot of thought into making these units special. She even helps with restaurant bookings – talk about going the extra mile!

And let me give you the lowdown on the cost. R800 per unit is a total steal, considering the quality and comfort you’re getting. If you’re passing through, especially if you’re a family of four, this is the place to be. Trust me, you won’t find a better deal.

If vintage charm is your thing, you’re in luck. Montagu 4 Seasons has got that old-school appeal that will transport you back in time. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back, relax, and let nostalgia wash over you. So, what are you waiting for? Head on over and experience the magic for yourself.

Guide to the best accommodation in Montagu MzansiBride

Welcome to an authentic South African bed and breakfast experience. It’s not flashy, but it’s a chance for me to share Corrie and Tielman de Villiers’ charming 1912 double-storey thatched home with you. This cozy retreat sits in a large garden along Montagu’s main road. Inside, the decor is old-fashioned and comfortable: pretty wallpapers, high ceilings, creaking timber floors, brass beds with quilted covers, and Victorian claw-foot baths. It’s like stepping back in time.

If you appreciate vintage charm, I recommend staying in rooms 1 to 4, located upstairs in the original thatched home. They have a unique character that you’ll love. The garden suites, while lacking some of that character, do offer their own entrances for added privacy.

The cost for a night’s stay, including breakfast, starts at R435 per person when sharing a room. Please note that this B&B does not accommodate children under 12.

It’s located on Rose Street, right by the tranquil Keisie River, and offers stunning views of the mountains. What’s really cool is that they have a 10-meter pool surrounded by a beautiful timber deck. And let me tell you, the interior is just as impressive. The rooms are decorated with lovely furnishings, and the beds are adorned with high-quality linens. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing getaway.

Now, here’s what makes this B&B truly special. Instead of just being a regular accommodation option, it offers a range of exclusive ‘experience’ weekend packages. You can learn all about craft beer brewing or even take part in specialized cooking courses that use the finest local ingredients. How awesome is that? Make sure to check out their website for more information on these incredible experiences.

And if you’re looking for some privacy, Room No.4 is perfect because it has its own private sit-out area.

Let’s talk about the cost. The bed and breakfast rate starts at R550 per person per night sharing. But keep in mind that this place is for adults only, so no children under 12 are allowed.

Something to Note

If I had the space, I’d give 7 Church Street Guest House the first spot for its exceptional hospitality. It’s more than just a bed and breakfast – it’s a labor of love. Mike and May Worthington-Jones have spent nearly 14 years creating five spacious rooms surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with chirping birds. Staying here feels like being part of their family. The cost for a room is R525 per person per night, based on double occupancy.

For a special occasion, Les Hauts de Montagu is your best bet. This charming establishment, ranked third in the category of Speciality Lodging, offers luxurious rooms on a working farm just outside town. The breathtaking views will leave you speechless. Please note, however, that they do not provide dinner. The rate for a room is R650 per person per night, based on double occupancy.

During my inspection, I discovered that Kogman & Keisie, a specialty lodging establishment, was in the midst of a major renovation. Soon, they will be offering five beautiful new bedrooms with stunning views of the village and the nature reserve. What’s more, the owner, Petrus Jansen, extends a warm invitation to guests to pick their own organically grown vegetables. You can enjoy a comfortable bed and breakfast experience here for just R350 per person sharing.

For those seeking a more affordable option, Koo Karoo Guest Lodge offers a self-catering cottage in their backyard. Although it’s simple, the cottage is clean and can accommodate up to five guests for R305 per unit per night.

If you prefer larger, bustling resorts, consider Montagu Caravan Park. Located on scenic Middel Street, this unrated park offers a prime location for your getaway. I recommend booking one of their Lake Chalets, which can sleep four people and start at R550 per unit per night.

Whether you’re looking for a tranquil retreat, a budget-friendly stay, or a lively resort experience, Montagu has something for everyone. Enjoy your stay and make the most of all that this wonderful destination has to offer.

If you’re looking for a busy resort in Montagu, you should definitely check out Avalon Springs. Located right on the hot springs, it’s the place to be. Avalon Springs is a popular destination attracting all sorts of holiday-makers. The hotel prices start from R300 per person per night, including breakfast. If you prefer self-catering units, they are available starting from R800, and they can accommodate four people.
