Hey there! I’m Wesley Aucamp, the new head chef at Ernie Els. After spending six impressive years cooking in top-notch private clubs across America, I’m thrilled to be back in South Africa. During my time in the States, I had the pleasure of working with renowned French master chef Michel Personnaz, who truly influenced my culinary style and refined my taste buds.

Now that I’m here at Ernie Els, I’m all about creating delicious dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Farm-to-table cooking is my jam, and I’m excited to bring my newfound skills and techniques to the table.

Tasty treats made easy

When it comes to describing the new menu, it’s all about channelling the spirit of golfing legend Ernie Els, who is famously known as “The Big Easy”. Just imagine enjoying a perfectly grilled sirloin steak served with a side of smoked cauliflower purée, mushrooms, and pommes frites. Or perhaps you’re in the mood for some delicious beef-cheek arancini or a creamy baked Dalewood camembert. If pasta is more your style, you won’t be disappointed with the slow-braised lamb ragu penne. And for those who prefer seafood, the seared linefish is a definite winner. To round off your meal, you can indulge in the chef’s dessert of the day or treat yourself to some homemade ice cream.

A perfect match

Naturally, the food at Ernie Els Wine is perfectly complemented by a selection of delicious estate wine, skillfully crafted by winemaking legend Louis Strydom. Situated within The Golden Triangle, a region famed for its big reds, you can expect classic cab savs and my personal favorite, the complex Proprietor’s Blend. It’s a perfect pairing for steak or venison grilled to perfection over the coals.

The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, offering lunch between 12pm and 3.30pm. For the dinner crowd, they open on Thursday to Saturday from 6.30pm to 9pm.
