You probably already know that cold, thick air helps racing engines perform better. But what you might not know is that when the temperature drops on the racetrack, it becomes even more important to focus on how the car handles and its setup, rather than just pure power.

That’s why the first winter race of the 2022 Power Series, hosted by Wingfield Motors at Killarney on May 14th, is going to be an exciting one. With lower track temperatures, the racing is expected to be closer than ever, with unexpected spins and surprise winners.

Bundle up and arrive early to witness an action-packed day of races! The star attraction will be the Thermo Fires Clubmans Saloons, featuring a full programme of races. Excitement will also abound with the Alert Engines GTi Challenge and the combined BEJO Trustees Fine Cars and Laude Classic Cars.

But that’s not all! Brace yourself for the heart-pounding Pirelli V8 Masters, where drivers must rely on their skill and bravery to conquer the track. These cars are a handful, especially when the weather is chilly!

In cold weather, tire temperature and suspension setup become even more critical for the brave riders participating in the South Superbikes/Superbike Challenge/Masters/600s, the Strato Technology Clubman/Classic/Breakfast Run Motorcycles, and the Bridgestone Super Twin Cup 650 and Super Sport 300 Motorcycles. Achieving the perfect balance can make you a true hero!

You have two options for attending the motor racing event. You can either pre-book your tickets at Computicket or pay at the gate. The qualifying rounds start at 8:00am, and you’ll have a whole day of exciting racing to enjoy. For adults, the ticket price is R80, while scholars under 16 can get in for just R20. Children under 12 get in for free, and members of the Western Province Motor Club also enjoy free admission.

Don’t worry about parking, as there is plenty of space available around the circuit. Feel free to bring your beach umbrella or gazebo to create some shade. Pack a picnic basket and a cooler box for refreshments, or bring your skottelbraai to cook up a delicious meal. You can also park next to one of our brick braais for a convenient cooking spot. If you prefer, you can choose a spot in one of the shaded grandstands and make yourself comfortable for the day.

If you get hungry or thirsty during the event, don’t worry. There are outlets located throughout the facility where you can grab hot snacks and cold beverages. We also have children’s play areas available, including the famous Kiddies’ Korner. This fun zone is the coolest party zone on the West Coast and can be hired for events all year round. Best of all, on Race Day, your kids can enjoy the Kiddies’ Korner for free!

If you come to the event, you’ll have the freedom to roam around all day. You can hop on the complimentary shuttle and enjoy different views of the action. And don’t forget, you’re welcome to explore the pits and get up close to the cars and motorcycles.
