Canned wine? Wine not!
So, you’re a wine aficionado, eager to explore the world of canned wines? Well, you’re in for a treat! Canned wine may sound perplexing, but trust me, it’s a trend worth embracing. Forget what you think you know about wines, because these sleek, aluminum vessels are here to challenge conventions.
Picture this: instead of trudging around with cumbersome glass bottles, you can now enjoy your favorite wine almost anywhere, anytime. Whether you’re camping under the starlit sky or attending a summer concert, canned wine has got you covered. Its portable nature ensures that you can savor the rich flavors and aromas of your beloved wine, no matter where you find yourself.
But wait, you might question the quality of canned wine. I get it. It’s natural to have doubts. However, rest assured that many renowned winemakers have recognized the value that canned packaging offers. They understand that it’s not just about convenience; it’s about preserving the integrity of the wine as well. The can acts as a shield, protecting the wine from harmful UV rays and oxidation, ensuring that every sip is as delightful as the first.
Now, you might be wondering about the variety of wines available in cans. Well, let me tell you, the options are abundant. From crisp and refreshing whites to full-bodied reds, and even sparklers, there’s a canned wine for every palate. So, whether you fancy a zesty Sauvignon Blanc or a velvety Cabernet Sauvignon, you can find it in a can.
Don’t just take my word for it, though. Uncork your curiosity and give canned wine a try. You might be pleasantly surprised by the affordability of these compact wine wonders. Plus, it’s not just about the taste; it’s the experience. There’s something inherently exciting about cracking open a can of wine, isn’t there? It’s like embarking on a mini-adventure, ready to explore new flavors and indulge in the moment.
So, next time you’re in the mood for some vino, why not choose canned wine? It’s the perfect companion for those spontaneous adventures or relaxed evenings on the patio. Step out of your comfort zone, and let the allure of canned wine elevate your sipping experience to new heights. Cheers!
Let me tell you about a unique wine that breaks all the rules. It’s called Black Elephant Vintners, and it’s made in Cape Town, South Africa. Now, normally when you think of wine, you probably imagine fancy events with people carefully analyzing every sip. But Black Elephant Vintners is different. They believe that wine should be enjoyed without all the pomp and circumstance.
Let’s talk about canned wine. Some wine lovers might raise an eyebrow at the idea, but hear me out: picture this – it’s a scorching hot summer day and you’re getting ready for a picnic, or maybe you’re gearing up for a hike in the mountains with just a trusty backpack. Either way, you want to enjoy some good wine with your friends during your outing. Here’s the thing though, bringing a regular wine bottle along isn’t exactly the most convenient option. It’s bulky and fragile, making it a hassle to carry around.
That’s where canned wine comes in. Imagine this scenario: you grab a couple of cans of Black Elephant Vintners wine, toss them in your bag, and off you go. It’s lightweight and easy to pack, making it perfect for your outdoor adventures. Plus, if you’re planning on having just one serving (you still have to hike back, after all), canned wine eliminates the need to open a whole bottle and risk wasting it. It’s a win-win situation!
So, let me tell you about my experience with winemaker Jacques Wentzel. You see, I had the opportunity to taste the wines from Black Elephant Vintners, and let me assure you, they are nothing short of amazing. It’s incredible how they managed to create such unique wines without sacrificing quality.
What sets Black Elephant Vintners apart is their approach to winemaking. They have tossed aside all the typical pomp and circumstance of the wine industry and instead focused on what really matters – the craft itself. Their passion and dedication to creating exceptional wines shine through in every bottle.
These wines are not just for the snooty connoisseurs out there. No, they are for real people like you and me. The range of wines they offer is diverse and caters to a wide variety of tastes and occasions. Whether you’re looking for something bold and robust or light and refreshing, they have got you covered.
So, if you’re tired of the same old wines and want to try something truly special, I highly recommend giving Black Elephant Vintners a try. Their wines have character, depth, and a little touch of magic that will leave you wanting more. Trust me, once you taste them, you’ll never look at wine the same way again.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the Franschhoek event, but the kind folks at Black Elephant Vintners sent me a few cans to try. I hopped online to have a chat with winemaker Jacques Wentzel.
What’s even better is that when you buy their canned wine, you’re also helping to free captive elephants in South Africa. Black Elephant Vintners has teamed up with the Elephant Reintegration Trust (ERT) to reintroduce elephants into the wild. For every can they sell, R1 will be donated to the ERT, supporting their work to bring elephants back to their natural habitats after elephant-back safaris were allowed in the South African tourism industry in 2002.
I like to think about what we’re doing here at ERT as creating a special place just for elephants. A place where they can escape the hardships of captivity and find solace in the wild. Our vision is simple: to create a safe haven for elephants in South Africa. We want to give them the chance to live freely and peacefully, away from the trials of their past lives.
On our website, we talk about how we aim to provide a secure environment for elephants that have been used for commercial purposes. These majestic creatures come from various captive backgrounds, some of them having suffered abuse and hardship along the way. It’s heartbreaking to think about what they’ve been through, but our goal is to give them a second chance at a better life.
When an elephant arrives at our reserve, we do everything we can to help it heal and recover. Some need physical care, others need emotional support. We understand that the impact of captivity can be devastating, and it takes time and patience to regenerate a positive response from these incredible animals. But we’re here for them, every step of the way.
Our ultimate goal is to reintegrate these elephants back into the wild. We believe that their rightful place is out in the open, roaming freely in their natural habitat. And if you’ve ever seen an elephant in its natural environment, you’ll understand why. There’s something truly magical about watching them in their element.
So if you’re an elephant lover like me, I encourage you to support organizations like ours. By doing so, you’re not just helping individual elephants, you’re contributing to the conservation of the species as a whole. Together, we can make a difference.
Guess what? There are brand new cans available now, and they come in three different types of wine – Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, and their special Red Blend. These amazing cans are only available for purchase online, and they cost R29.50 each. Isn’t that awesome?
