When I step into Café Honeybun, it feels like I’m entering a cozy oasis where time slows down. Their motto, “Life. One cup at a time,” really speaks to me. It’s all about taking a moment to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, like sipping on a delicious cup of coffee and treating yourself to a slice of creamy cheesecake.

I’m thrilled to tell you that this new location in the CBD is already capturing the same friendly atmosphere and mouthwatering food that the original Café Honeybun is famous for in Obs. It’s like they’ve brought a piece of their homely magic right into the heart of the city.

I’m proud to say that at Honeybun, we take great pride in using fresh ingredients and serving the finest coffee. We partner with Truth Coffee Roasting to ensure our baristas are trained in the art of coffee-making, guaranteeing a perfect cup every time. When you step into Honeybun, you’ll find a warm and cozy coffee shop as well as a takeaway deli.

Whether you prefer to sit inside or outside, we have the perfect spot for you. We highly recommend the window seat that overlooks the bustling Greenmarket. It’s the ideal spot to enjoy a blend of the lively atmosphere outside and the cozy yet spacious interior of our shop. You can choose to sit on our comfortable black-and-white plastic chairs or opt for the cushion-strewn wooden bench near our small open kitchen.

As you approach the coffee counter, you’ll be greeted by a delightful display of old-fashioned biscuit tins, fresh fruits, and an array of freshly baked goodies. Our offerings vary daily, and you can expect mouthwatering treats like cheesecake, milk tart, and quiche. Just ask your server for the specials of the day.

When you step into the café, you can’t help but notice the unique touches that make it special. The blackboard wall, filled with information about the different types of coffee, immediately catches your eye. It’s like a special piece of knowledge, just waiting to be discovered.

But the real showstopper is the chandelier. As you look up, you can’t help but smile at the sight of it. The chandelier is made from spoons and porcelain mugs, giving it a quirky and creative vibe. It’s a coffee lover’s dream come true.

What can you order?

Yum-Yum Café has a mouthwatering menu full of breakfast treats, delicious lunches, freshly baked goodies, refreshing drinks, and tasty smoothies that are sure to please everyone’s taste buds – especially with its Banting and vegetarian choices. We also serve breakfast all day (with other tempting additions) and have a special recession breakfast available for only R19.

When I visited the café, I couldn’t resist trying the delicious Nutella French Toast. Let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing! The toast had a soft and crumpet-like texture that was simply irresistible. Topped with fresh banana and strawberry slices, warm Nutella, syrup, and almond flakes, it was a flavor explosion in every bite. And the portion size was impressive too, definitely worth the price of R68. If you’re not a fan of bacon, you can even order it without.

If you’re looking for something besides French Toast, there are plenty of other options to choose from. How about a stuffed three-egg omelette, a butter croissant, or a tasty toasted sandwich? If you’re in the mood for something more indulgent, you can try the classic eggs Benedict. And if you prefer a lighter option, the muesli is a great choice. No matter what you decide, everything pairs perfectly with a cup of their famous Truth coffee.

When it’s time for lunch, you have a variety of delicious options to choose from at Honeybun Café. You can go for a gourmet toastie, a salad, a soup, or an open sandwich. If you prefer, you can even turn the open sandwich into a wrap at no extra cost or add R8 to turn it into a salad. For those looking for something more filling, there’s the Cape Malay chicken curry or the chicken, avo, and bacon burger, both priced at R80.

At Honeybun Café, we also offer catering services for platters and private functions. We deliver locally, ensuring you can enjoy our delicious food wherever you are. On Sunday afternoons from 12pm to 4pm, we have a special treat for you. The talented singer Steven Winter performs outside the café, creating a wonderful atmosphere that complements our softly playing jazzy tunes.
