My Favorite Things About Cape Town
Hi there! I’m Ryan Boon, and I’m a specialist when it comes to meat. Today, I want to share with you some of the things I love about living in Cape Town.
I grew up in Durban, but ever since I moved to Cape Town, I’ve fallen in love with this city. There’s a certain passion here that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s what makes Cape Town so special.
When friends or family from out of town visit me, I always make sure to show them the things that make South Africa unique. We go on adventures in the Karoo, try bungee-jumping at Bloukrans, visit game parks, hike in the mountains, explore the streams of the Western Cape, dine at traditional South African restaurants, and of course, we can’t forget about the local butcher. Driving around and revealing our amazing secrets is something I truly enjoy.
Speaking of food, I recently had an incredible meal at Noop, a local restaurant in Paarl. It was a quick in and out, but the food was absolutely delicious. The owner is fantastic and has a real passion for supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to eat out much this year due to my busy schedule with expanding my business.
Cape Town has so much to offer – from its vibrant energy to its stunning landscapes. It’s a place that truly captivates the senses. So, if you’re ever in town, be sure to explore all the incredible experiences that Cape Town has in store for you!
When it comes to dining, my personal go-to restaurants are Jardine and Jordan in Stellenbosch, along with the stellar Test Kitchen. I absolutely love tasting menus and preset options because they allow me to fully embrace the company and conversation while enjoying the chef’s curated experience.
If you’re looking for excitement, my wife and I are big fans of attending events that align with our current mood. We’re spontaneous by nature, and Cape Town is the perfect city for that. There’s always something happening to satisfy any mood.
Now, when it comes to weekend getaways, our favorite destination is anywhere with a top-quality spa. A solid full-body massage is just irreplaceable. On top of that, we have a family house in Langebaan, which provides a fantastic getaway close to Paarl. It’s the perfect spot for my wife and our two daughters to relax and have a great time.
There are a few things I still have on my bucket list for the Cape. One of them is staying in a fancy five-star hotel for more than just one night. I’m really looking forward to getting back on my bodyboard and riding some epic waves without getting attacked by a shark…
If you’re looking for the best coffee in my area, you definitely have to try Seattle Coffee. They make the most amazing brew!
When it comes to outdoor activities, the top choices in our area are fishing and hiking in the Du Toit’s Kloof Mountains. Both activities offer breathtaking views and a chance to connect with nature.
I don’t really pay much attention to Banting. Instead, I focus on understanding my body, blood type, and genetics. It’s important to eat what I know is good for me, what my body can digest properly, and what it was designed to process and burn.
And if I do decide to have a drink, my go-to choice is always Southern Comfort. It’s just so smooth and enjoyable!
Being a good butcher requires hard work and dedication. You can’t be lazy if you want to succeed in this profession. It’s also important to have great people skills and treat customers with respect. You can’t have an arrogant attitude and expect people to support your business.
Right now, I’m busy opening a new production facility at our Paarl factory. We’re also planning an exciting marketing campaign for our Stellenbosch retail outlet. Stay tuned for more updates!
Sundays are my time. I start my day at church, then I spend some quality time in the garden with my daughters. After that, I like to relax on the couch with my wife and plan for the week ahead.
Money can be a tricky thing. It’s often said that it’s the root of all evil. But I believe that if you do what you’re passionate about, the money will come naturally. Focus on doing what you love, and success will follow.
Once I’m finished with all my responsibilities, like writing this, I’ll make sure to take care of my oral hygiene and go to bed! It’s important to prioritize self-care, even in the midst of a busy schedule.
When I find myself awake in the middle of the night, I often find solace in the fridge. I’ll search for a comforting treat like yogurt or ice cream. It’s a small pleasure that brings some joy to those sleepless moments.
My ultimate goal is to make a positive impact on someone’s life. Even if it’s just one person, I want to know that I’ve made a difference. I strive to add value wherever I can, and I hope that my efforts will leave a lasting impression.
