Day 1: Falling in Love with the Eiffel Tower

I’ll be completely honest with you – I don’t think perfection truly exists. But, I must confess, my time in Paris was as close to perfection as it gets. Ernest Hemingway hit the nail on the head when he described Paris as a moveable feast.

Amazing Places

Hey there! So, Paris… You’ve probably heard it being called the City of Love, right? Well, let me tell you, it’s not just a nickname! Paris is actually one of the most famous tourist spots on the planet, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. As a first-time visitor, I was in awe of everything this magical place had to offer.

Let’s start with the fact that Paris is an absolute stunner. You can easily explore this gorgeous city on foot. Everywhere you turn, there’s something fascinating to see, whether you’re a history buff or not. And, of course, there’s no shortage of things to do either!

I want to talk to you about the Louvre Museum in Paris. It’s one of the most well-known museums in the world, and it’s right in the center of the city. The Louvre is home to artwork from different time periods, including Western art from the medieval period to 1848, important pieces from ancient civilizations, and beautiful works of Islamic art. There are so many incredible pieces in the museum, but I’ll mention a few that you might recognize.

If you like modern art, then you’ll love the exhibition of the Morozov Collections at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. The Morozov brothers were important patrons and collectors from Moscow in the 20th century. They gathered an amazing collection of both French and Russian modern art. You can see works by famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Henry Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh, and Pierre Bonnard.

You won’t believe your eyes when you see the Louis Vuitton Foundation. It’s like stepping into an architectural wonderland. The building itself is a work of art, a masterpiece of modern design.

It’s situated right by a stunning water garden, just for this project. The building is made up of these incredible white blocks, and they’re called icebergs. These icebergs are covered in panels of concrete that have been reinforced with fiber. And surrounding the icebergs are these twelve massive glass sails. They’re held up by these beautiful wooden beams.

The amazing thing about these sails is that they reflect the water, the trees, and the garden. They change with the light, so they’re never the same. It’s like the building is always changing, always transforming.

I’m telling you, it’s pure magic.

Food

The star of the show was definitely the pumpkin soup, which was accompanied by a selection of delicious bread and butter that only the French seem to know how to serve.

For lunch, I decided to treat myself at L’Esprit Nouveau. I went all out and ordered a full meal – a starter, a main course, a snack, and dessert. Feeling a bit homesick, I opted for the Le Burger with pickles, chips, and a salad. The restaurant had a beautiful glass roof, and it felt like I was dining in luxury.

When I was getting ready to leave, I wanted to make sure I experienced all that Paris had to offer. That meant trying some of the famous street food that the city is known for. So, the night before my departure, I hopped on a train to the Eiffel Tower and decided to explore the area.

I didn’t have a specific plan in mind, so I just wandered around, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. As I strolled along the streets, the aroma of delicious food filled the air. It was impossible to resist.

Eventually, I stumbled upon a street vendor selling hot dogs. There was a long line of people waiting, which was always a good sign. I decided to join the queue and see what all the fuss was about.

When it was finally my turn, I ordered a hot dog with cheese on a baguette. The vendor quickly assembled the ingredients, skillfully placing the sausage on the bread and melting the cheese on top. It smelled incredible.

I took my first bite, and it was pure bliss. The combination of the juicy sausage, the melty cheese, and the crusty baguette was absolutely divine. It was simple food, but it tasted like heaven.

As I stood there, enjoying my hot dog, I couldn’t help but think about how street food really captures the essence of a place. It’s a taste of the local culture, a snapshot of the city’s culinary identity.

When you’re in Paris, you gotta go all out with the shopping

Paris is famous for its fashion houses and trendy boutiques scattered all over the city. But if you’re looking for the ultimate high-end fashion fix, you’ll want to head straight to Galeries Lafayette. This place is like a fashion mecca, with six levels of pure style and elegance. Seriously, it’s the best shopping mall in Paris, hands down.

Check out this photo of Galeries Lafayette in Paris! It’s a popular destination for tourists, just like me. When I visited, I was amazed by the three different buildings that make up this famous department store.

The first building is dedicated to household and food products. You can find everything from kitchen appliances to gourmet treats. The second building is all about men’s fashion. There are so many stylish options to choose from! But the main attraction is the ‘Coupole’ building, which has a stunning Art Nouveau dome and an incredible rooftop view.

Inside the main building, there are eight floors filled with over 2,000 of the world’s most famous luxury brands. It’s a shopper’s dream come true! And if you’re feeling hungry or in need of a break, there are plenty of cafés, bars, and restaurants to choose from.

Personally, I couldn’t resist the sneaker section at Galeries Lafayette. There were so many cool options to browse. But that’s not all – they also have a thrift store section where you can find second-hand luxury items at discounted prices. It’s a paradise for any shopper!
