Boipelo & Mai Motiang
It was definitely not love at first sight, lol!
We met at church in 2006, and we couldn’t stand each other.
Only in 2011 did a strong friendship form that proved how wrong our perceptions about each other were.
We then started dating in 2012. Our love was growing and our future plans included both of us in them, at this point it was undeniable that we could not see our future without each other in it.
After a long 6 years of dating, he finally had his family send a letter requesting a meeting with mine to discuss his intentions, that’s basically how he proposed.
I found that letter to be the most sweetest thing ever, I even kept it. In December 2017, he paid lobola and we had been planning our wedding since.
Most of our suppliers are from Mzansi Bride, so I had a good advantage knowing I’m dealing with reliable people.
We had the most amazing wedding, far beyond what we had planned, we had so much fun, our characters were well reflected in it, amazing guests, God showed up tangibly and He showed off!
What Was Your Favourite Aspect Of The Day?
I have a lot.
I loved Boipelo’s vows, they made everyone cry, whereas mine made everyone laugh, lol.
I also loved the sermon, the spirit of God was so prevalent, some of our guests had real encounters with God and it was heartwarming.
Last one was just the dancing, we got down man, our bridal party was so vibey and relevant, everyone caught on the turn-up mood!
What Would You Change in Hindsight?
I would propably extend it for longer, it was shortlived.
What Advice Would You Give to Future Brides?
Do pre-marital counselling, and pray even about the smallest of things, planning a wedding can be stressful and will test your faith.
Make it a priority to enjoy your wedding day, whether things are coming together or not. Be yourself and do you, your wedding should reflect both your personalities: if it’s drama you like, give them drama! lol!
Include your family in the planning process, they wanna be involved. Lastly, try to have plan B for at least a hairstylist and make-up artist, if anything goes wrong at least you’ll look good.
How Has Married Life Been?
It has been truly amazing, except the fact that the weight gain is rapid, lol!
We have already learned to live with each other’s habits by now. We are really winging it hey, trying not to over-conceptualize marriage, we pretty much still see each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, go on dates, have fun etc, but ultimately sharing your life with your best friend is true bliss!
