The unassuming Sonja Edridge, who has rustled up dishes for the likes of the legendary Johnny Depp and even Her Majesty the Queen, has created a cozy haven where every culinary creation that emerges from the open-plan kitchen is a masterpiece born from love and skill.
Let me tell you, I’m head over heels for everything on their menu. From the moment my eyes laid upon it, I knew it was divine. So, being the ultimate Depp fan(atic) that I am, I indulged in the Johnny Depp – two perfectly poached eggs nestled on top of an exquisite bed of sourdough bread, crispy bacon, roasted tomatoes, and a silky Hollandaise sauce that was as smooth as silk can be. The tangy goodness of the sauce balanced everything out harmoniously, and those heavenly eggs… absolute perfection.
If you’re a connoisseur of coffee, then prepare to be blown away. The talented barista Mo has mastered the art of crafting the most delectable cortado using those magical Bean There beans. Believe me, it’s a rare feat to find such a splendid cortado in Cape Town.

I think it’s because the owner, Chris, is so friendly. He really makes you feel at home. And the place is so unique and quirky, it’s a great place to have brunch near the city center.
What I love about this café is their brunch dishes. They get really creative! One of my favorites is the Halloumi option, with grilled halloumi, eggs, wilted spinach, mushrooms, and avocado. They serve it with crostini, too. Yum! Another tasty option is the omelette with bobotie and avo. It’s got a South African twist to it that makes it extra special.
Here’s a cool insider tip: if you’re planning a picnic, Lazari has got you covered. Gardens and Vredehoek have some fantastic picnic spots, and Lazari actually offers a takeaway picnic service.
