The Glencairn Hotel has undergone a major transformation, and I’m excited to announce that the new Barstaurant at Glencairn is now open! This fantastic dining spot is the brainchild of several influential leaders in the food industry, and it offers a welcoming atmosphere for the whole family. You’ll find it nestled along the shores of False Bay, between Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town.

Welcome to Barstaurant at Glencairn, a place with a rich history that dates back to 1904. This entire floor area, housed in a remarkable building, is now home to our new family offering. I’m excited to share that it was created by the Tintswalo group in partnership with Tintswalo Atlantic’s seasoned general managers, Ryno and Melissa du Rand, and the well-known restaurateur Clint Fennel. You might recognize Clint from his ten years managing Willoughby’s in the V&A Waterfront.

We took great care to preserve the beauty and character of the historical Glencairn Hotel while also highlighting its unique and hidden features. During the renovation process, we prioritized hiring local contractors, resulting in the creation of 40 jobs. As a family business, we decided to design the interiors ourselves, with the help of third-generation decorator Camlyn Goosen. Our goal was to create a stylish yet casual ambiance, perfect for a family-friendly restaurant and neighborhood bar.

This project, in particular, gave me the chance to create something fresh from the old, and bring together food, drinks, play, and sport. I can feel the energy in the Deep South of Cape Town like nowhere else in the world.
