If you really want to immerse yourself in the village’s authentic charm, I highly recommend a visit to Martin’s Deli and the Overberg Honey Company. It’s best to drive there since these two fantastic spots are conveniently located near each other. You’ll have the opportunity to stock up on incredible goodies like honey, available for just R116 a litre, or exquisite olive oil, priced at R130 a litre. And while you’re there, don’t forget to explore their mouthwatering selection of cured meats, scrumptious cheeses, and other essential ingredients.
Let me tell you about Martin’s Deli, a fantastic place in the village that everyone loves.
One of the best ways to explore the village is by taking a stroll along the Wandelpad. This path will take you all around the village, giving you a chance to see the lovely houses and gardens. As you walk, you’ll also come across the banks of the Klein River before reaching the path that leads back to the Dragonfly.
Have you ever heard of the Klein River? It starts in the Klein River Mountains and flows through Stanford until it reaches the Hermanus Lagoon. It’s a beautiful area, and I want to tell you about some exciting things you can do there.
One activity you must try when you visit Stanford is taking an early evening river cruise on the magnificent Lady Stanford. If you love birds, February is a great month to visit, but even in October, we had plenty of amazing bird sightings. We saw so many different species, including red bishops, Cape weavers, white-breasted cormorants, African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers, Caspian terns, and even an African black duck with adorable little chicks. It was truly a highlight of our weekend.
