Welcome to White Pearl
Located in Ponta Mamoli, southern Mozambique
Hey there! Ever heard of pearls? They’re these incredibly precious gems that are super rare and occur naturally in the wild. Well, White Pearl is a place that perfectly captures the essence of these magnificent treasures. It’s tucked away in a secluded corner of a wild coastline, surrounded by vibrant indigo waters, swamp forests, coastal lakes, and grasslands.
Imagine beautiful wooden villas scattered on a small hill, enveloped by lush greenery. It’s just 25 kilometers away from the southernmost point of Mozambique. As you step onto the mocha-colored deck, you’ll be greeted by bouncy white couches, a bar as pure as snowflakes, and a refreshing blue swimming pool. The light and airy communal areas are adorned with shades of ivory, creating an atmosphere of tranquility. And when you make your way to the 21 villas, just a short ride away on a golf cart, the beach-chic design will transport you to a world of relaxation and luxury.
Once you arrive at your villa, take a moment to marvel at the luxurious amenities that await you. You’ll be greeted by an outdoor shower, cozy loungers, a private plunge pool, and a flat-screen TV. There’s even an iPod docking station and a bar fridge stocked with your favorite drinks and snacks. But the real highlight is the breathtaking glass-encased bedroom, offering stunning views of the sparkling sea.
As soon as you settle in, your personal butler will present you with a mobile phone, specially programmed to connect you with him at any time. This handy device makes it easy to request anything you need, whether it’s a forgotten sunscreen or a ride back to your room. Your butler will go above and beyond to ensure your comfort, from turning down your bed to replenishing your cookie jar with freshly baked treats prepared by the talented chef. And whenever you desire, he’ll be there to whisk you away in a golf cart.
Hey there! You’re in for a treat at this wonderful resort There’s a wide range of activities that you can choose from – you can go on seasonal turtle tours, embark on ocean safaris, or even try scuba-diving at their amazing PADI centre. If that’s not your thing, you can simply relax in a cozy wicker bowl chair in the bright day bar. Take a moment to appreciate the walls filled with mirrors and groove to the cool jazz tunes playing in the background while enjoying a light lunch.
When it’s time for dinner, get ready for a luxurious experience in the dining room. The menu changes daily, offering a variety of delicious dishes influenced by the Indian Ocean. You can savor a veggie curry with a delightful blend of spices or indulge in a mouthwatering beef rump marinated with paprika, bay leaf, and garlic. Make sure to leave some room for dessert, especially their homemade almond-flavored ice cream – it’s absolutely divine!
Hey there! Let me tell you about the amazing Tofo Mar Hotel in Tofo, Inhambane. It’s such a cool place to stay!
The Tofo Mar Hotel
If you’re looking for a fancy place to stay in Tofo, Inhambane, then the Tofo Mar Hotel is perfect for you. It’s a great choice if you want something a little more upscale than the usual reed-and-timber accommodations you find around here. And let me tell you, this place has recently had a makeover and it’s looking super stylish now!
One thing I love about the Tofo Mar Hotel is that it’s become a popular hangout spot for people looking to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset on the beach. It’s like the ultimate social hub for sundowners! You can unwind, relax, and take in the breathtaking views.
So, whether you’re visiting Tofo for a vacation or just passing through, make sure to check out the Tofo Mar Hotel. It’s not your average accommodation option, and I guarantee you’ll have a great time!
When I step into the dazzling reception lounge, I immediately reach for my sunglasses. The room is all white, blindingly bright. But as I adjust to the light, I see it – the mesmerizing turquoise water gently caressing the caramel-colored sand. It’s a sight that takes my breath away.
I make my way upstairs, taking the stairs since there’s no elevator. There are 13 suites awaiting me, each as pristine as the next. The rooms are adorned with colorful mats and abstract marine artworks, creating a vibrant ambiance. What catches my eye the most, though, are the mosaicked bathroom walls. They depict enchanting ocean scenes, making me feel like I’m submerged underwater.
This is no coincidence. You see, the hotel is managed by Diversity Scuba, a local diving company. They’ve thoughtfully designed the rooms to immerse guests in the beauty and tranquility of the sea.
If you’re looking for a hotel room with a balcony, you’re in luck! Some of the rooms here have balconies, and I must say that number nine is the best pick. That room has the largest patio, so it’s definitely worth requesting. But don’t worry if you don’t get a balcony – all the rooms offer a great view. They overlook a restaurant deck where you can enjoy the sight of divers launching into the water and fishermen bringing in their catch.
Now, let’s talk about the weather. On rare occasions when the weather isn’t ideal (and by that, I mean a mild temperature of 23 degrees and a light drizzle), you can still have a great time. Head over to the chic bar and indulge in some tasty drinks. While you’re there, take a moment to appreciate the cleverly arranged retro lampshades. There are twenty of them, hanging above the colorful couches. It’s a stylish and cozy spot where you can relax and do a bit of people-watching.
If you’re looking for the perfect weather, come visit Tofo Beach and enjoy its warm waters. Not only can you take a dip, but there are also many exciting activities to try, like diving, fishing, and horse-riding. The hotel can help you arrange these adventures. Don’t forget to explore the hotel grounds and pick up some beautiful local jewelry, souvenirs, and fresh fruits and vegetables to snack on. And if you feel like wandering, take a leisurely walk along the shore and you might just end up in the charming town of Barra. Just make sure to return in time for a spectacular sunset on the beachfront.
Hey there! Welcome to Barra Beach Club in Inhambane, where relaxation meets paradise. Let me take you on a journey through this little slice of heaven by the sea.
A Hidden Gem by the Bay
Once a private holiday home, Barra Beach Club has transformed into an exclusive boutique hotel. Nestled amidst majestic lodges, it sits on a narrow strip of land between a pristine sandy beach and the tranquil tidal bay of Inhambane.
Unwind in Style
With just 12 rooms, including cozy garden suites and a luxurious presidential pad, Barra Beach Club offers an intimate retreat. The main house boasts eight charming double rooms, flanking the central dining area and bar. Each room is tastefully decorated in earthy tones, exuding warmth and comfort.
Your Oasis Awaits
Step into your tranquil oasis equipped with modern amenities for your convenience. Stay cool with air conditioning, catch up on your favorite shows on the TV, and luxuriate in your own private courtyard or daybed if you opt for a freestanding unit.
At Barra Beach Club, “relaxation” is not just a word – it’s a way of life. So come and experience the magic of this little piece of paradise. Your perfect escape awaits!
When you step into the rooms of this place, you won’t be greeted by expansive sea views. There’s a small dune that blocks the view. But don’t worry, just take a short stroll down a bamboo pathway and you’ll find yourself on a beach with soft sand and absolute tranquility. It’s the kind of beach that invites you to take long walks and enjoy the serenity.
If walking isn’t your thing, don’t worry. You have other options too. You can relax by the garden pool or take a dip at the lunchtime pool bar called Agua de Coco. Here’s a hot tip: instead of having lunch at the lodge, head to The Green Turtle, just a five-minute walk away, and try their amazing ginger, lemongrass, and peanut calamari. Trust me, it’s absolutely delicious.
While you’re here, the crashing waves will lull you to sleep at night and the sound of a peacock’s cry will wake you up in the morning, reminding you that freshly baked bread is waiting for you at the breakfast table. Once you’re fueled up, there are plenty of exciting activities to try. You can go mangrove kayaking, surfing, quad-biking, scuba diving, or snorkeling for seahorses. The lodge will arrange everything for you.
Trust me, this is one vacation you’ll have to leave the kids at home for. Unfortunately, there’s a strict “no kids allowed” policy. Although, I have great news if it’s during school holidays because they are actually welcome then. This place is all about providing a serene escape for those who truly appreciate and value tranquility. It’s the perfect spot for a stress-free and peaceful getaway. So, if you’re looking for a place where you can relax without a worry in the world, this is it.

Massinga Beach Lodge
Massinga District, Inhambane
Hey there! You ever wonder what it’s like to escape to a place that feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere? Well, Massinga Beach Lodge is the perfect spot for that. It’s tucked away in a secret location, right on top of some of the clearest, most beautiful sand you’ve ever seen – like snow, but warmer!
Now, let me tell you, this place is a favorite among lovebirds. Why, you ask? It’s all because of the amazing view! From up here, you can see the whole beach – not just some tiny part of it. And hey, don’t worry about the hustle and bustle of daily life. Massinga Beach Lodge is off the grid, far away from all the noise and distractions. It’s like your own little oasis of peace and quiet.
Speaking of peace and quiet, the accommodations here are all about providing you with maximum relaxation. You’ve got these incredible suites that are built on stilts, giving you that elevated feeling. And guess what? They don’t have TVs! That means you can truly disconnect from all the screens and gadgets that usually surround us. Plus, all the power here comes from a generator, so, every now and then, you’ll experience a little power outage. But don’t worry, just use that time to take a nice nap or appreciate the beauty of the nature around you.
Instead of catching up on the latest news, I invite you to marvel at the expansive blue horizon right from the comfort of your luxurious king-sized bed. You can enjoy the same breathtaking scenery while indulging in a refreshing rain shower, relaxing in a soothing bath, and even sitting on the toilet. The mesmerizing view will accompany you throughout your stay, whether you’re sipping cocktails at the bar, practicing your scuba skills in the pool, savoring delicious meals in the restaurant, or simply unwinding in the cozy library.
If you’re in the mood for some socializing, hop on a golf cart and make your way to the beach bar. There, you can challenge your friends to games of pool, table tennis, or darts, or simply bask in the sun by the large circular pool overlooking the shimmering ocean. The staff is more than happy to assist you in arranging exciting activities like diving, fishing, picnics, and snorkeling. However, it’s important to note that this secluded paradise isn’t focused on constant hustle and bustle. Instead, it offers you a serene and tranquil retreat, where you can escape from the chaos of everyday life. Don’t expect constant cellphone reception or Wi-Fi connectivity here. Instead, embrace the soothing sounds of the waves and the melodies of the birds as they serenade you, creating a truly peaceful ambiance.
Picture this: Massinga Beach Lodge in Inhambane. Just close your eyes and let that image sink in. Can you feel the warm sand beneath your feet, the gentle breeze against your face, and the sound of waves crashing in the distance?
Welcome to Dugong Beach Lodge
Located on San Sebastiao Peninsula, Vilankulo
Let me tell you, this place is something special. As soon as I stepped onto the transfer boat in Vilankulo, the guest relations officer, Ernesto Mandicunda, who happens to resemble Denzel Washington, surprised me with an unexpected question. Instead of asking if I could swim, he asked me, “Can you dance?” Talk about breaking the ice!
After a scenic 45-minute ride, I arrived at Dugong Beach Lodge, and that’s when the real magic began. The friendly staff welcomed me with open arms and a lively dance routine. Of course, they expected me to join in, and who am I to refuse? They say that if you don’t participate, you won’t get good weather during your stay. Trust me, you’ll want the weather to be perfect in this paradise.
As I stroll through the shallow waters towards the jetty stairs, my feet are gently rinsed and dried, and a refreshing cocktail is handed to me. It’s incredible how close the 14 villas are to the shore. The peaceful water and the thatched roofs give Dugong the feeling of a secluded island, despite being located on the mainland of the Sao Sebastiao Peninsula. You could choose to drive there, but taking the boat is a faster and much more enjoyable option.
When you visit this place, you’ll find the main deck to be quite impressive. It’s filled with beautiful trees that jut out through the floors, creating a unique and natural atmosphere. This is where you’ll enjoy your meals – lunch and dinner. I highly recommend trying the Bazaruto Archipelago lemon butter blue crayfish if it’s available; it’s absolutely delicious! In the mornings, you’ll be treated to an individual breakfast spread that includes yoghurt, fruit, pancakes, pastries, flapjacks, and the classic egg fry-up.
If you’re looking for a place to unwind and relax, you can choose between two great options – the hammock or the loungers. Either way, you’ll be able to enjoy the magnificent views. But there’s something special about sitting on the edge of the three-level infinity pool. Here, as the waters ebb and flow, you’ll feel like a part of the changing tides. The pool offers a stunning spectacle as the sand and turquoise channels create a mesmerizing maze.
As you explore further, you’ll come across sun-bleached wooden walkways that guide you to the spacious and modern suites. These suites are truly impressive, with showers that are almost two square meters in size. And the best part? The bath is in its own separate room, providing the ultimate privacy and relaxation. Each suite also features a private deck and pathways that lead directly to the beach. It’s a true paradise!
If you’re lucky enough to have one of the two end pads, you’ll also have your very own private plunge pool. Just imagine spending your days lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun, and taking refreshing dips whenever you please. It’s the epitome of luxury.
When I think about my time at Dugong Beach Lodge, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. The days were filled with endless adventures – snorkelling, swimming, relaxing, and fishing. Whether I was exploring the lodge or venturing out to the nearby islands, every moment was filled with excitement and wonder.
The final day arrived sooner than I wanted it to. As the boat drifted away from the shore, the staff gathered to bid me farewell. Their heartfelt singing and dancing left me feeling a bit teary-eyed, but also grateful for the incredible experience I had at Dugong Beach Lodge.
As I look back on my time there, I can’t help but remember the beauty of Vilankulo. The photo by Dylan Kotze captures just a glimpse of the stunning scenery that surrounded me. The white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life made it a truly magical place to visit.
Welcome to Pomene Lodge
Located in Pomene National Reserve, Pomene
Getting to Pomene Lodge wasn’t the easiest journey. The long, bumpy 4×4 drive was definitely an adventure in itself. But once I arrived, I knew it was worth every bump along the way.
Situated between the warm Indian Ocean and a mangrove estuary, Pomene Lodge’s location is truly unique. Being on a sand spit within Pomene Reserve adds to its charm and allure.
What really stood out to me about Pomene Lodge was the incredible value for money. They offer a range of accommodation options, so you can decide whether you want to go all out or be a bit more frugal.
For those looking to immerse themselves in nature, camping is available. It’s a great way to truly connect with the surroundings and experience the tranquility of Pomene. If you prefer a bit more comfort, there are basic accommodations available as well.
And for those who want a truly unique experience, the standard above-water chalets are a must. These chalets give you the opportunity to enjoy magnificent views of the ocean, especially during high tide. There’s something truly special about waking up to the sound of the waves and knowing that you’re just steps away from the water.
Overall, my time at Pomene Lodge was filled with adventure, relaxation, and awe. The lodge offers something for everyone, ensuring that no matter what kind of experience you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.
When you stay in the stilted rooms made of wood and thatch, you’ll find that they may not be fancy, but they have everything you need. Each room has a cozy queen-sized bed, a fan to keep you cool, a small balcony where you can relax, and mosquito nets to keep the bugs away. From your room, you can enjoy the beautiful sight of peaceful flamingos, local fishermen going about their day, and if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of humpback dolphins swimming in the estuary. While the rooms are nice, you probably won’t be spending much time in them. There’s so much to do here that you’ll want to be out and about exploring.
When you’re not in your room, you can head to the activities center, where you’ll find a wide range of things to keep you entertained. Whether you’re looking for games to play, a bar to grab a drink at, or a TV area to relax and watch your favorite shows, you’ll find it all here. There’s never a dull moment at this place, even though it’s tucked away in a remote location.
Let me tell you about this amazing place I discovered. It has a really big pool with a swing bridge that you can even swim under! Can you imagine that? And guess what? There are these beautiful bright red umbrellas all lined up under these gorgeous palm trees with gold tinges. It’s like something you would see in a movie.
But that’s not all. Everything happens around this pool. You can have your meals there, enjoy some drinks at the cool bar, or even play a game of chess on a unique concrete board. How cool is that? It’s the perfect spot for all the fun!
If you’re looking for some alone time away from all the other holidaymakers, I have a secret to share with you. Just take a walk to the other side of the lodge, and you’ll find a beach that is almost untouched. It’s like a blank canvas begging for your footprints. Can you imagine having all that space just to yourself? It’s like your own little paradise.
Now, let me paint you a picture of the nights at this place. It’s absolutely magical. The restaurant deck is adorned with twinkling fairy lights wrapped around the trees. And the view? Oh, it’s breathtaking. You get to overlook a beautiful silvery estuary, with the moonlight casting a mesmerizing glow over everything.
And the food? Oh, my goodness. You have to try their dinner. It’s absolutely delicious. And if you have a sweet tooth, don’t forget to ask for their chocolate mousse to share. Trust me, it’s a treat you don’t want to miss. Just make sure you come hungry because the portions are generous.
When it’s time for some rest, you’ll retreat to your room. It’s a moment of pure tranquility as the generator takes a break. That means you’ll sleep in total darkness, with no disturbances. It’s like being wrapped in a cozy cocoon, ready to drift off into dreamland.

Pestana Bazaruto Lodge
Bazaruto Island, Bazaruto Archipelago
Every day at this fabulous resort, I’m greeted by birdsong, palm trees, vibrant, shocking-pink bougainvillea, and a tranquil ocean. This slice of paradise is found on the northernmost tip of Bazaruto Island, near a sand spit. While it’s perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway, it’s also an excellent choice for families because there are so many activities to keep the little ones entertained.
With forty charming, thatched chalets in the shape of A-frames, you’ll enjoy plenty of privacy. Each chalet is conveniently located right next to the beach, equipped with comfortable loungers and umbrellas. For even more seclusion, you can choose a lodge in the back row. Although these lodges don’t offer direct water views, you’ll rarely have anyone walking by and disturbing your peace.
When you stay at this place, you’ll find that the rooms are simple yet comfortable. They have air-conditioning, TVs, and even a patio where you can relax. The outdoor shower only has cold water, but on those hot and humid days, it can be quite refreshing. And if you prefer something warmer, you can always enjoy a relaxing soak in the indoor bath.
Once you’re settled in, you can join your fellow guests in the social bar. It has a great view of the sea and a large curved pool. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy some sundowners and watch the colorful sunset. And when you hear the sound of the traditional drums, you’ll know it’s time for dinner. The large dining room offers a buffet, à la carte options, or even a beach braai, depending on the chef’s mood.
Hey there! If you’re planning a trip to the Bazaruto Archipelago, I’ve got some awesome activities for you to check out. Make sure to try out as many as possible, and trust me, you won’t want to miss snorkelling at Coral Garden. It’s a daily event and totally worth it! Plus, it’s safe for kids as long as they’re with an adult. You can even turn it into a whole day of fun by bringing a gazebo and a coolbox packed with delicious refreshments. Talk about paradise!
When the sun’s not too harsh, take a hike over the dunes and visit the lighthouse. The view from up there will blow your mind! And if you’re up for a leisurely stroll, why not explore the whole island? There’s so much to see and discover.
But here’s the icing on the cake. The Bazaruto Archipelago is made up of five islands, and each one is more beautiful than the last. So, make sure you don’t miss out on visiting the other islands too. Trust me, it’s the cherry on top of an already incredible holiday.

Azura Benguerra
Benguerra Island, Bazaruto Archipelago
When I arrived at Azura Benguerra, I felt like a total VIP, especially because I got to fly in on a helicopter. And that’s not all – they even gave me my very own butler! This fancy butler made sure I had everything I needed, from serving delicious cocktails at sunset to setting up a beautiful dinner table just the way I wanted.
Now, you might think this sounds a little too fancy for your taste, but trust me, Azura Benguerra is the perfect blend of luxury and relaxation. It’s a small and stylish boutique hotel right on the edge of the water on Benguerra Island in the Bazaruto Archipelago.
As I stroll along the seashell-covered walkways, I can’t help but feel a sense of connection and adventure. These pathways connect the luxurious private villas to the communal lounge, bar, and dining area, creating a social hub where you can enjoy the company of others. And if you’re up for it, you can even challenge someone to a game of moravarava – just ask the friendly barman for the rules.
Every suite here is incredibly stylish, oozing with elegance. They all boast a magnificent deck, complete with comfortable loungers and a refreshing pool, just a short stroll away from the sparkling sea. If you’re willing to splurge a bit, I highly recommend booking the Presidential Villa, which can accommodate up to six people. This luxurious oasis not only features its own private bar but is also completely detached from the main building, offering the utmost privacy. And let’s not forget the private chef who will be at your service, ensuring your culinary desires are met.
For a more affordable option, the Villa Amizade is a fantastic choice. This four-sleeper villa is located at the other end of the hotel, providing a peaceful retreat. Although it doesn’t come with a private chef, it still offers all the comfort and amenities you could need for a wonderful stay.
As for the other thatched units, they are designed with your ultimate comfort in mind. These contemporary rooms are filled with thoughtful extras that will enhance your stay. From the handy hessian beach bags to the eco-friendly stationery, every detail has been carefully considered. And let’s not forget the his-and-hers outdoor showers, a truly indulgent touch. You can even cozy up in the soft slippers and gown provided – a true sign of luxury and relaxation.
Imagine this: you’re staying in a cozy room with the sweet relief of air-conditioning. Everything you need is just a phone call away, including delicious meals delivered right to your door. It’s tempting to stay nestled in your sea-themed suite, but don’t forget to step outside and embrace all the exhilarating water sports available. And when it comes to dinner, mix things up. You can choose to dine in the elegant dining room, on the sandy beach, or even in the tranquil water that gently tickles your ankles.

Welcome to Anantara Resort & Spa
Located on Bazaruto Island, part of the Bazaruto Archipelago
As I approach Anantara Resort & Spa, I can’t help but marvel at its captivating colonial ambiance. The meticulously maintained lawns and trees form beautiful arches over the endless boardwalks, creating an oasis that could easily be mistaken for any lush destination in the world. Yet, as I glide towards the pool and bar area, a tranquil turquoise view lies before me, serving as a gentle reminder that I am indeed on the stunning tropical island of Bazaruto.
Wow! When I stood there and looked out at the horizon, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The sea stretched out before me in a dazzling display of blues – light blue, bright blue, and dark blue. It was absolutely breathtaking!
And let me tell you, this resort is the perfect place to take advantage of all that beautiful water. They have so many activities to choose from, you won’t know where to start. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can go scuba-diving, kayaking, waterskiing, or take a boat trip. But the real gem is a visit to Paradise Island. The snorkeling there is absolutely spectacular, and they even have a beach braai for you to enjoy.
But it’s not just about the water activities. When the tide goes out, you have to check out Clube Naval, the resort’s lunch spot. It’s located about 500 meters from the shore and has some amazing rock and cave pools overlooking the coast. And if that’s not enough, they also have a main swimming pool where you can cool off after a day in the sun.
And let me just say, this place has so much more to offer. They have a unique game called qolf, which is a mix of croquet and golf. It’s so much fun, you have to try it! They also have tennis courts and a gym if you want to stay active. And don’t forget about the spa. It’s absolutely massive and offers a wide range of treatments. It’s like a whole other world!
If you book a deluxe sea-view pool villa, you’ll have an amazing view of the resort and ocean. Plus, you’ll have your very own private splash pool, even though it’s not right by the sea. But don’t worry, the seafront units are just a few steps away from the water. And inside, they’re super spacious and modern. The outside of the units have that classic Mozambican style, with thatched roofs and wooden accents.
I have to tell you about the turndown service at this place. Most resorts do the usual stuff like closing the curtains and putting up mosquito nets. But Anantara takes it up a notch. They’ll even turn the TV towards your bed! And they’ll leave slippers at the foot of the bed, along with air-con and TV remotes on your bedside table. Plus, they’ll even leave you a little treat, just to make sure you have sweet dreams.
