For a truly picturesque journey, I highly recommend exploring the Nuy Valley, where you can make a stop at Willow Creek along the way. However, if you want a more structured route through the valley’s landscape, I suggest you take the Breedekloof Wine Route that goes through Rawsonville. It’s an excellent way to soak in the countryside and enjoy the idyllic scenery. Along the route, you’ll also come across charming wine cellars, splendid wine farms, and fantastic restaurants where you can indulge in a leisurely, mouth-watering lunch.

4. Shop at the Fairhills Craft Cooperative
When you’re visiting Rawsonville, be sure to check out the wonderful Fairhills Craft Cooperative. Located just a short drive away from Worcester, it’s worth taking the time to explore this unique establishment.
Fairhills Craft Cooperative offers a wide array of handmade goods, including edibles, soaps, craft materials, magnets, clothes, and beautiful works of art. What makes it even more special is that these items are made by the old age homes, Kleinbegin’s after school project, and local artists. By supporting the cooperative, you’re not only getting incredible products, but you’re also contributing to the local community.

Hey there! Let’s talk about a hidden gem called Tweefontein Padstal.
Are you a wine lover? If so, but you’re not up for visiting every single wine estate in the Breede Valley area, then Tweefontein Padstal is the perfect spot for you.
Not only do they offer a wide variety of local wines, but they also have a special treat for you – free coffee! Yes, that’s right. You can help yourself to a tasty cup of joe while you explore the shelves filled with locally made goodies, like preserves, treats, and crafts. You can even try some of the delicious samples they have. But here’s a tip: if you can only walk away with one thing, make sure it’s a bag of custard cookies called Vlakoekies. They’re absolutely scrumptious!
But wait, there’s more! Here are three other things I’d love to do in the Breede River Valley:
1. The overnight hike at the enchanting Fairy Glen Private Game Reserve
Hey there! Have you heard of Fairy Glen Private Game Reserve? It’s one of Cape Town’s few places where you can see the Big 5 animals freely roaming around. But what caught my attention even more is the amazing nature trail that has been attracting mountaineers for over a century!
This trail is no joke – it’s a challenging four-hour uphill battle. To hike it, you need to be part of the Mountain Club or go with one of their members. And at the end of the trail, you get to stay overnight in a hut that was built in the 1930s by the Ski Club of South Africa. How cool is that?
I have to be honest, though. I was warned that this trail is tough but totally worth it. Especially if you go in the last few weeks of January, when the Disa flowers are blooming. It must be an incredible sight!
If you want more information about this exciting adventure, you can reach out to Erica Van Niekerk at 072 342 9224.
2. Go Camping at Dwarsberg Trout Hideaways
Hey there! Let me introduce you to Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway, an amazing place that is perfect for camping enthusiasts like us.
When I first heard about Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway, I was immediately intrigued. It offers everything you could ever want for a camping trip: self-catering cottages, secluded campsites, and an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
But what really caught my attention were the camping sites themselves. There are nine of them, and they are all completely private. Plus, each site has its own access to the river, which means we can swim and fish to our heart’s content.
On top of that, each site has a shaded grass area that is just perfect for pitching our tents. And let me tell you, the ablution block is top-notch. It has two toilets and two hot water showers, which is more than enough to keep us comfortable during our stay.
But that’s not all! Each site also comes with portable braai facilities, so we can enjoy a delicious barbecue under the stars. And to make things even better, we get two bags of wood per night for free. Now that’s what I call a great deal!
And if camping isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway has plenty of other activities to keep us entertained. They have mountain biking and hiking trails that are just waiting to be explored. I can’t think of a better way to immerse ourselves in nature.
So, if you’re looking for the perfect camping spot, look no further than Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway. It has everything we could ever want and more. Trust me, once you experience it for yourself, you’ll be hooked.
Hey there! Let me tell you all about this amazing campsite called Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway. It’s the perfect spot for your next adventure!
So, here’s the deal: the campsite will cost you R570 per night, and that covers the stay of 6 people. Don’t worry if your group is bigger, though. Each additional person will be charged an extra R95 per night. And if you have children between the ages of 4 and 12, it’s only R45 per night for them. Even better, kids aged 3 and below stay for free!
If you have any questions or want to book your stay, you can get in touch with the folks at Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway. Just give them a call at 023 349 1919 or shoot them an email at [email protected] You can also visit their website if you want to learn more about this awesome place.
3. Ready to chow down at the amazing Tin House?
Have you ever tried the Tin House? I really wanted to go, but unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance. From what I’ve heard, though, it’s a place you have to visit if you’re in the Rawsonville area.
People who have been there say that the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. They serve modern dishes and have a great selection of local wines that won’t break the bank. And on top of that, the service is excellent.
When I saw the Tin House for myself, I noticed that it had a charming rustic style. It really added something special to the already beautiful town of Rawsonville. If you’ve been there before, let me know what your experience was like!
The Tin House is open Tuesday to Thursday from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM and Friday to Saturday from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. To find out more, give them a call at 023 349 1719.
