The first steam train line that connected the Atlantic coast was built in 1862. Originally, it only went from Cape Town to Eerste River. But after a year, it was extended to Stellenbosch and Wellington. Today, you can experience the magic of riding a vintage steam train on the Atlantic Rail. The journey begins at Cape Town Station and takes you all the way to Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch. Once you reach Spier Wine Farm, you have four whole hours to enjoy the place, have a delicious meal, and explore to your heart’s content. Then, it’s time to head back to Cape Town, making the entire outing last about seven hours. If you’re an adult, the ticket costs R350, and for children under 13, it’s R250. So, why not hop on board and take a trip back in time?
