Hey there! I’m Antoine Auriol, a former world champion kitesurfer, and I’m all about making the world a better place. I love organizing kiteboarding festivals, creating documentaries that showcase eco-friendly projects, and spreading an important environmental message during my round-the-world yacht races.
Kiteboarding is more than just a sport for me – it’s a way of life. For over 20 years, I’ve been able to connect with nature in a way that few activities allow. I can feel the wind on my face, the water beneath my feet, and it brings me a sense of joy and fulfillment.
Everywhere I go, I discover new and incredible places that feel like paradise. These hidden gems can be found off the beaten path, just a little further away from the hustle and bustle. And in every corner of the world, there is life – both natural and human. It’s the delicate balance between the two that captures my imagination and leaves me in awe.
El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cádiz
This is my home. It’s where I belong, where I feel connected to everyone and everything. I know every nook and cranny, every secret spot. Here, I have a network of friends who share the same passion for kitesurfing as I do. I have spent so much time in this place that I can navigate its waters with ease, even blindfolded.
New Caledonia, South Pacific
When I first started creating documentaries, I frequently visited Piha – a place with stunning lagoons, including the largest one on Earth. It was a distant location from my home, but it sparked my imagination and fueled my desire to explore new cultures. This sense of connection is something I strive to capture in all of my documentaries.
Piha, New Zealand
You know what I find fascinating? New Zealand. It’s just so amazing to me. I had the chance to go kitesurfing in this incredible place called Piha. Let me tell you, the beach there is like no other. The sand is actually black! Can you believe that? And the whole area is so wild and untamed. There were moments when I couldn’t even see the road because it was completely covered in lush greenery. It was like being transported to another world, a world filled with power and beauty.
Let Me Tell You About French Guiana
When I think back to my experiences kiteboarding in Mauritius, one thing comes to mind – fear. I know it may not sound like the most glamorous thing, but let me explain. The moments leading up to getting in the water were filled with nerves. You see, there are some rather large creatures lurking in the depths – caimans. These creatures have the potential to turn a peaceful kiteboarding session into a dangerous encounter. So, needless to say, I wasn’t exactly in my comfort zone.
Mauritius
I can really get a taste of India here, even without the cows. I absolutely adore the people, the food, and their open-heartedness. The locals aren’t pushy like some people in France can be. It’s refreshing to see that they speak French but don’t have that peculiar French attitude.
