John Dory’s Orange River Canoe Marathon
Hey there! If you’re up for some adventure, mark your calendars for the 25th John Dory’s Orange River Canoe Marathon. It’s happening on April 28th and 29th, 2012. The race takes place on the thrilling rapids of the Orange River in Hopetown, Northern Cape.
This race is not only a chance for some fun, but also the official SA K3 championships for the second year running. If you’re a senior participant, the entry fee is R250, and for junior participants, it’s R175 per paddler. The best part? On Saturday 28 April 2012, I had the pleasure of participating in the Delta Draf at Solms-Delta. This exciting event takes place in the breathtaking vineyards that surround the Solms Delta wine estate, located on the R45 to Franschhoek. Year after year, this race has established itself as a beloved fixture on the Cape running calendar.
If you’re a licensed athlete, the entry fee is R35, and if you’re an unlicensed athlete, it’s R55. For those looking for a fun run, the price is set at a reasonable R15. After the race, you have the opportunity to relax and unwind to the sounds of live traditional Cape rural music, performed by the talented Delta bands.
