With her guidance, I reached the cottage, which carries the French name due to her husband’s French background.

This cottage has received rave reviews, with a remarkable rating of 9.9. It’s easy to understand why once you step inside. The attention to detail and stylish decorations make it simply perfect. The open-plan kitchen is an absolute food lover’s dream, fully stocked with all the essentials. However, if you prefer dining out, there are excellent restaurants just a short walk away. The main road is only 850 meters from the cottage, ensuring convenient access.

Imagine stepping into a refreshing shower that overlooks a lush inner courtyard filled with ferns. Take a moment to relax on the comfortable extra-length king-size bed in the open-plan lounge, complete with a cozy convection fireplace. One of the standout features of this farm is the 16,000 olive trees they planted, which produce the most delicious olive oil you can imagine. It’s truly a labor of love, and you can taste the passion in every drop.

But the farm has so much more to offer than just olives. As you explore the grounds, you’ll come across five cozy cottages that have been beautifully designed and furnished. Hey there! Take a look at this amazing place I found. I’ve always been a fan of this charming farm-turned-guest house. It’s located on Kweekvallei Farm, which has some of the best soil and water in the area. Did you know it’s actually the oldest building in Prince Albert? It was built in 1835 by Zacharias de Beer for his granddaughter.

The farm has been beautifully renovated over time, keeping its unique character intact. The buildings have those classic thick whitewashed walls and polished floors. It’s a perfect blend of elegance and rustic charm. You can really feel the history here.

Ria Steyn, the owner, has a great sense of style. The decor is elegant, but it still has that cozy, down-to-earth feel. You’ll love the atmosphere.

If you’re looking for the perfect room, let me tell you about The Wagon Shed. It’s one of the honeymoon suites, and it has its own private outdoor bath. Plus, it’s right by the farm reservoir pool. Another great option is the Windmill. Both of these rooms are highly recommended for couples.

But my personal favorites are The Forge and The Cottage. The Forge is so charming, and The Cottage is perfect for families when booked with The Dairy. I should mention that The Cottage is only available to guests who are 12 years old and above.

Now, let’s talk about the best two-bedroom cottage. It’s called Olive Grove Cottage, and it’s truly outstanding.

Wow, take a look at this charming village! It’s full of cozy cottages that you can rent. But let me tell you, none of them are quite as perfect as Olive Grove. This beautiful dark-grey cottage is located on the grounds of Olive Grove House, owned by Dee and Daniel Millner.

Olive Grove has everything you could ever want. The decor is absolutely fabulous, and the cottage itself is incredibly spacious. The kitchen is so charming, and it’s equipped with everything you need – you won’t be disappointed. One of the best things about it is that it’s open to the dining room, with a stunning fireplace taking center stage. You’ll feel right at home!

But that’s not all. Olive Grove also has a splendid stoep, where you can dine and lounge in complete comfort. From there, you’ll have a beautiful view of the garden, the amazing pool and deck, and an awesome outdoor firepit and braai area. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself.

Now let me tell you about the bedrooms. The main bedroom is en-suite and absolutely lovely. The second bedroom is also en-suite and can be set up with twin beds or a king-size bed – whatever suits you best. And here’s a little something extra – the Millners have added some special touches to make your stay even better. You’ll find rusks, wine, coffee, and even some olive oil to use.

And guess what? Olive Grove is conveniently located within walking distance of all the hotspots on the high street. So you won’t have to go far to find some fun!

Now let’s talk about the price, because it’s really fantastic. Especially if you’re traveling with a group of four, the cost is only R350 per person. That’s a great deal for everything you get at Olive Grove.

As I walked along the high street, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the captivating display of vintage items in the Victorian shop. The air was thick with a mouthwatering scent of sizzling onions, thanks to William Penfold, who was busy cooking in his apron using the exquisite olive oil produced by Vrisch Gewagt. The moment I stepped into the back courtyard, shaded by the surrounding buildings, I was greeted by Colleen, William’s wife. The tranquil space featured a serene pond, a charming fountain, and a raised swimming pool at its center, serving as the entrance to each room.

It was evident that every corner of this place had been carefully restored by William, a retired builder, who preserved the unique charm of the turn-of-the-century architecture. And it wasn’t just the buildings that exuded history; the couple had also filled each room with an enchanting collection of vintage treasures they had collected over the years. When I finally reached my loft room, an overwhelming sense of comfort enveloped me. It was a space that exuded tranquility, making it difficult for me to leave its embrace.

I came back after finishing dinner to see William and Colleen enjoying their meal on the front porch. Joining them felt like reconnecting with dear old friends. William prepares the breakfast himself, using fresh ingredients sourced from the kitchen garden. It’s truly a remarkable place and an incredible deal.

Room tip: All the rooms are stunning, but I’m definitely booking the Loft again.

Next on the list is the Art Bin route. They’ve decorated over a hundred dustbins to celebrate the town’s 250th birthday. That’s definitely something you don’t see every day!

Dr. Sue Milton-Dean will show you all about the Karoo flora, while Ailsa Tudhope will reveal the town’s spooky ghost stories. And if you’re into stargazing, the Daehnes will take you on a night skies tour. Oh, and don’t miss out on the Red Bus Tour of the town and African Relish’s foodie tour in a super cool tuk-tuk!

If you’re into shopping, you’ll love buying local goodies. From mohair items and ostrich-eggshell decor to sheepskin slippers, olives, figs, cheeses, and even witblits, this place has got it all.
