Let’s dive into the top contenders that made the final cut.
1. The Ultimate Beachfront Retreat
The Bungalow
Ranked No. 22 out of 101 Speciality Lodgings on TripAdvisor
If you want to experience a lively and vibrant party atmosphere while being right by the beach, then The Bungalow is the perfect place for you. When you walk in during sunset, it’s like stepping into a hip house party – the music is blaring, the cocktails are flowing, and you’ll see people lounging by the plunge pool or gathered around the firepit. Up on the rooftop bar, you might even spot a girl with her laptop, enjoying the cozy corner lounge. Plus, just a few steps away is Hobie Beach, so you can easily hop in for a swim or a stroll.
The overall style of The Bungalow is modern and trendy, with a touch of boutique charm. The deck outside is made of a cool, weathered silver-grey wood, complete with built-in seating. The cushions are a mix of gray and pastel colors, giving the space a geometric and stylish look. If you choose a sea-facing room, you’ll have access to a semi-private deck that’s surrounded by beautiful indigenous milkwood trees. And if you prefer a quieter spot, there are plenty of cozy nooks throughout the house where you can relax and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Here’s a great tip for you: If you and your loved one are planning a getaway, I highly recommend booking one of the ocean-view rooms at this incredible lodge.
Now, let’s talk about the cost. You have several options to choose from:
- Sea Facing Room: For R1,375 per person sharing, you can enjoy a cozy room with a beautiful view of the ocean. This room sleeps two people.
- Cliff Side Room: If you’re looking for something more spacious, the Cliff Side Room is perfect for you. It costs R1,100 per person sharing and can accommodate up to four people.
- Family Villa: For a bigger group, the Family Villa is an excellent choice. The cost is R2,200 per person for the first two people, and each additional person will be R440. This spacious villa can sleep up to six people.
All of these options include a delicious breakfast to start your day off right.
2. Looking for a romantic getaway?
Look no further than the Emily Moon River Lodge, which has been ranked number 8 out of 101 Speciality Lodgings on TripAdvisor.
Imagine this: 16 cottage-suites perched above the Bitou River, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding beauty. That’s Emily Moon, a luxury lodge that packs incredible value. The moment you step into your spacious and beautifully decorated room, you’ll know you’re in for something special. But the real showstopper is the deck, where you can soak in the stunning wetlands below and wake up to the enchanting call of a fish eagle at dawn.
But don’t think for a second that Emily Moon relies solely on its jaw-dropping location. Owners Mark and Christine Valentine have poured their hearts into every detail. The cozy interiors are adorned with painted timber walls, adorned with framed pictures, artwork, and antlers. There’s an undeniable atmosphere that envelopes the entire property, thanks to the Valentines’ collection of eclectic objects from their adventures across Africa, Asia, and Polynesia.
Now, here’s the catch. I’ll let you in on a little secret: Emily Moon is one of my absolute favorite places to stay. But, apparently, I’m not alone in that sentiment. Weekends see this place bustling with weddings and special events, so if you don’t want to miss out, make sure you book well in advance. After all, who wouldn’t want to experience the magic of Emily Moon for themselves?
Here’s a great tip for your stay: The newly designed deluxe luxury suites are absolutely incredible and worth every penny, but don’t underestimate how gorgeous and affordable the standard luxury suites can be. You can save a whopping R1,160 by choosing one of them instead. And if you want to add that cozy touch, make sure to request a suite with a lovely fireplace. Trust me, Suite 3 is my personal favorite, and I think you’ll love it too.
Speaking of cost: The rates start from just R1,280 per person sharing, and that includes a delicious breakfast. It’s an excellent value for such a luxurious experience.
2. The Finest Home Away From Home
Soul Arch: This stunning self-catering house hasn’t been rated on TripAdvisor yet, but that doesn’t make it any less amazing. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a truly peaceful and serene stay. It’s tucked away in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature’s splendor. The house itself is incredibly charming and offers all the comforts you could wish for. Plus, with the self-catering option, you have the freedom to prepare your own delicious meals whenever you please.
I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Soul Arch is like no other place you’ve ever seen. It’s made mostly from reclaimed wood that Frances and Wotjek Orzechowski collected over the years, which gives it a unique and special feel. When you step inside, you’ll be transported to a world of beauty and tranquility.
Now, I know there are plenty of other fancy houses along Robberg’s beachfront, but do they really compare to Soul Arch? I don’t think so. You see, Soul Arch has that perfect balance of style and comfort. It’s beautifully designed, with every detail carefully thought out. And the best part? It’s just a short walk away from the beach, but it also has its own pool. Talk about the best of both worlds!
Frances and Wotjek Orzechowski have been living in Plett for 15 years, and they know a thing or two about creating a one-of-a-kind space. First, they found the perfect location – a hillside overlooking the bird-filled vlei, just a block away from Solar Beach. Then, they drew inspiration from New Zealand bach-style beach houses and used their collection of reclaimed wood, doors, and windows to bring Soul Arch to life.
When you step inside Soul Arch, you’ll be greeted by an atmosphere that is both stylish and cozy. The Orzechowskis have put their boho-chic touch on every corner of the house, creating a space that feels like a true home away from home.
And let’s not forget about the price. Given its prime location in ‘rich Robberg’, you might expect Soul Arch to cost a pretty penny. But I have good news for you – it’s actually quite affordable. So you can enjoy all the luxury and charm without breaking the bank.
Soul Arch is truly a hidden gem in Plett. If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, this is the place for you. Trust me, once you’ve experienced the magic of Soul Arch, you won’t want to leave.
Room Tip: This place has three bedrooms: Two with double beds and one with three bunk beds. If you need a larger house in the same area, you should take a look at the ‘Solar Beach House’ on Airbnb. It might not be as stylish, but it can accommodate 15 people in seven bedrooms. The rate for that one is R3,500 per night.
Cost: The price for this place starts at R4,200 per night and it can sleep four adults and six children.
4. The Most Elegant Guest House
Hi there! It’s me, Christiana Lodge!
I’m proud to say that TripAdvisor ranks me as the 12th best Specialty Lodging out of 101!
Imagine walking down a block, and suddenly, what appears to be four separate residential homes catch your eye. You can’t help but be curious. Intrigued, you take a closer look and realize that these houses are more than meets the eye. They have been cleverly linked together to create something truly unique – a boutique hotel. It’s like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

The rooms in this boutique hotel are nothing short of remarkable. They have a certain elegance to them, with classy and contemporary decor. The color palette is neutral, with whites and creams dominating the scene. The furniture is made of wicker and wood, adding a touch of warmth to the overall aesthetic. And let’s not forget about the beautiful white-painted American shutters that adorn the windows. It’s the kind of attention to detail that leaves you in awe.
But it’s not just the design that impresses you. The maintenance of this place is top-notch. Despite the whirlwind nature of your visit, you can’t help but notice how immaculately clean and well-kept everything is. It’s a testament to the dedication and pride that the staff and owners have for this establishment.
There are different options for accommodation within this boutique hotel. Christiana Lodge offers 11 B&B rooms, while House Philip and Brakvlei each have three rooms. If you prefer a self-catering option, Brakvlei is also available as a self-catering unit. And if you’re looking for something smaller, Brakkloof is a stunning little self-catering apartment for two. It’s the kind of place that you can imagine yourself living in for an extended period of time.
So, if you’re looking for a unique and memorable place to stay, this boutique hotel is a fantastic choice. The combination of architectural ingenuity, elegant decor, and impeccable maintenance create an experience like no other. It’s a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered, and once you find it, you’ll never want to leave.

The variety of views available ensures that there’s something for everyone, and the prices reflect the unique experiences each room offers. So whether you’re seeking a breathtaking mountain vista or a peaceful garden oasis, you’ll find the perfect room to suit your desires.
Cost – When it comes to affordability, Brakkloof has you covered. For only R950 per person sharing, you can enjoy a comfortable room with a delicious breakfast included. Or, if you prefer the freedom and flexibility of self-catering, you can book their spacious apartment for just R1,190 per person sharing. Either way, you’ll be getting incredible value for your money.
5. Best sea-view house
Dolphin Views Keurboomstrand – If you’re searching for the ultimate sea-view experience, look no further than Dolphin Views in Keurboomstrand. While this property may not have any reviews on TripAdvisor, don’t let that deter you. Sometimes the best experiences are the hidden gems that haven’t been discovered by the masses yet. Imagine waking up to the sound of crashing waves and sipping your morning coffee while taking in the panoramic views of the ocean. It’s a truly magical getaway that will leave you speechless.
Vanessa Raphaely, the owner, calls this place her “soul spot” – the place she always wants to go back to. And it’s not hard to understand why. It’s nestled between beautiful coastal vegetation and the endless Keurbooms Beach. The location is truly amazing. When you step out onto the timber deck, you’ll be greeted by an unobstructed view that stretches as far as the eye can see. There are no big, ugly buildings on either side, just the sparkling coastline of Plett in the distance. This is a real beach house, a place where you can relax and feel at home. The main area, with the kitchen, lounge, and dining room, opens onto a deck with breathtaking views of the sea. Another deck has a small pool and overlooks the 28-hectare fynbos-covered property. There’s even a playroom for the kids, so you can have a break. And if you take a short stroll along the boardwalk, you’ll find yourself on the beach, keeping an eye out for dolphins and whales.
Tip for Choosing a Room Out of the four bedrooms, two are about the same size and offer great views, making this house perfect for sharing with another couple.
Price Starts at R2,900 per night (accommodates nine people).

6. The Hotel with the Best Value
Grand Africa Rooms & Rendezvous
TripAdvisor Ranking: 6 out of 14 Hotels
I recently visited this hotel and cafe, and let me tell you, the transformation is absolutely incredible. The changes made are nothing short of grand. The large porthole windows offer a breathtaking view of Lookout Beach, and the new steel exterior cladding adds an attractive touch to the building. Not only that, but they’ve also expanded, now offering a total of 11 rooms, with four of them being dog-friendly.
Despite the renovations, the place still retains its unique bohemian decadence. As you walk in, you’re greeted by candelabras covered in melted wax and vases filled with vibrant red roses. The trademark tall French-style beds, complete with stepping stools, add a touch of elegance and charm.
However, I must admit that there is some intrusive branding that has made its way in. But, you know what? Maybe this new corporate sponsorship from Life & Brand is the reason why the prices are so reasonable. And believe me, the rates are truly fantastic considering how wonderful most of the rooms are. In fact, many of them even have sea-view balconies.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the renovations and the ambiance of the place. The combination of the old-world charm and modern touches creates a unique and inviting atmosphere. So, if you’re looking for a place to stay or grab a bite to eat, I highly recommend checking out this hotel and cafe. You won’t be disappointed!
My Recommendations Thinking of a romantic getaway? You absolutely have to check out Room 6. Imagine soaking in a bathtub while admiring the breathtaking view. If you want more options, Room 7 and Room 8 are also fantastic choices. Now, if you’re bringing along your furry friend, I suggest booking The Farm Room. They have extra-long twin beds, a lovely shaded patio with a table and chairs, and even an outdoor shower. And don’t worry, The Bath House has its own swimming pool.
The Price You must be wondering about the cost, right? Well, it starts from R600 per person, and that includes sharing and breakfast. Not too shabby for all these amazing amenities, if you ask me!
7. The Ultimate Beach Apartment
Singing Kettle Beach Lodge
Ranked 24th out of 96 B&Bs/Inns on TripAdvisor
I have to tell you something that I wasn’t eager to share – it’s almost impossible to find a room here anymore. But I believe in the saying “sharing is caring,” so I’ll spill the beans. Singing Kettle has six apartments that are just above Ristorante Enrico, the famous pizzeria with the catchy slogan: “Get any closer and you’ll get wet.” These apartments have the best location, right on the beautiful Keurbooms’ Kettle Beach. Plus, since they’re on the upper floor, every room has an amazing view of the sea.
There are different types of rooms available. You can choose from three standard rooms and two deluxe rooms. Each room has its own private terrace, and the honeymoon suite even comes with an additional balcony and fireplace. If you prefer making your own meals, don’t worry – the apartments are equipped for self-catering, and there’s a shared balcony at the back with a Weber braai.
But here’s the best part – if you don’t feel like cooking, you can simply go downstairs to Enrico’s and enjoy a delicious meal. It’s that convenient.
Here’s a tip for choosing your room: The apartments are designed for two people, although some have sleeper couches to accommodate three. If you have the luxury of choosing, I recommend Room 4 in the standard rooms or Room 1, which is known as the ‘honeymoon suite’.
When it comes to cost: The price starts at R800 per person if you’re sharing.
8. Discover the ultimate winter glamping experience!
Stay at AfriCamps at Ingwe: Ranked number 8 out of 13 speciality lodgings in The Crags according to TripAdvisor.
After seeing the popularity of glamping in Europe, Jeroen van Rootselaar and Manou Bleumink decided to bring the trend to Cape Town. They purchased an industrial sewing machine and started experimenting with canvas. Now, six years later, they have eight glamping sites throughout South Africa, and this one is definitely one of my favorites.
Situated on a charming farm in The Crags area, these six tents are perched atop timber platforms on stilts. From their decks, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding fynbos slopes and pockets of forest. There’s even a table on the deck where you can dine while taking in the scenery. And if you’re in the mood for some outdoor cooking, there’s a firepit/braai surrounded by comfy chairs.
Inside the tents, canvas walls divide the space into three areas. The first is a spacious kitchen-lounge-dining area that comes fully equipped and even has a fireplace to cozy up next to. There are also two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and a single bunk above it. And don’t worry, the back of the tent houses a bathroom with a zinc-lined interior and plumbing.
Looking for the Perfect Room? You’re going to love the tip I have for you. Make sure to book one of the three rooms that come with a wood-fired outdoor hot tub. Imagine lounging under the stars – now that’s real luxury!
Cost Looking for a great deal? It’s just R545 per person if you’re sharing a room, and an extra R200 per person if there are five of you.
