As soon as you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a bright and spacious kitchen-living area. It’s the heart of the home where everyone can come together. The tastefully placed rugs and the pristine white sofas create an inviting atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. And when you slide open the doors, you’ll be greeted by a sprawling stoep – a delightful outdoor space that’s perfect for spending lazy afternoons or enjoying a decadent meal.

All four of the bedrooms in this house are really big. They all share two full bathrooms, which are just as well-stocked as the rest of the house. You’ll find everything you need in there, from toothpaste to plasters. The garden is really beautiful, and it’s well taken care of. If you walk down the stone steps, you’ll get to the Breede River. Sometimes it’s flowing, sometimes it’s not. The river leads to orchards and mountains in the Breedekloof. If you feel like going out and exploring, there’s a special place for the dogs. And if you need someone to look after your dog, you can book dog-sitting.

Here’s a tip about the rooms: The two double rooms have fireplaces. One of them even has air conditioning. The owner, Claire Dicey, has just finished building a brand-new house with two bedrooms. It’s right in front of one of the farm dams and has the most amazing view of the mountains. It’s definitely going to be a great place to stay.

When it comes to the cost, it starts at R1980 for two people. If there are more than two people, each additional person is R385. The house can sleep up to eight people. Just keep in mind that you need to stay for at least two nights.

Nestled on a sprawling 90-hectare fruit and wine farm, this hidden gem is tucked away on a dirt track off the R43. To my delight, there was an outdoor dining table situated under a picturesque pergola, adorned with a canopy of vibrant vines.

I’m excited to tell you about this adorable cottage I found. It’s small and cozy, with an open kitchen, dining, and lounge area. There’s a bedroom, and another smaller bedroom connected to it. The bathroom is petite, with only an outdoor shower. It’s a great spot for stargazing at night, especially if you turn off all the lights. The only downside is that there is no pool, but don’t worry – there are beautiful river pools just a short 16-minute drive away at Tweede Tol. And even in the winter, this place is perfect because there’s a big indoor fireplace where you can even braai (barbecue) on. They also have a two-plate gas stove and an outside braai area, so you’ll have everything you need to cook up a storm.

They may be situated a bit closer to the hustle and bustle, but don’t worry – they’re still within walking distance to the Witte River’s delightful swimming holes. And let me tell you, Caroline has thought of everything. She’s placed chairs on the grassy banks overlooking the water, creating the perfect spot to relax and take in the breathtaking views. It’s an idyllic setting, especially as the mountains turn a rosy pink hue.

The best part about Orchard Stay is its location. It’s totally private, surrounded by pear orchards. And the view from the deep wrap-around veranda is just stunning. You can even see a small dam from there!

If you’re feeling like a swim, you can take a dip in the dam. But if you prefer something a little more special, there’s an eco plunge-pool right next to it. It’s so cool! But my favorite thing about Orchard Stay is the hot tub. It’s absolutely magical, especially in the winter. It’s heated with a wood burner, and you can just relax and stargaze. What a dream!

However, they make up for it by serving breakfast and dinner in the cozy dining room of the guest house. The meals are simple yet delicious, with options like bobotie or lasagne. What I appreciate about this spot is that it offers great value for money. The guest house is beautifully designed, with top-notch finishes and furniture. Plus, the package includes two meals, which is a bonus. Keep in mind, though, that Bosjes Kombuis is located about 20 minutes away from the river pools at Tweede Tol.

If you’re planning a stay at Bosjes Kombuis, I have a room tip for you. Room 5 is perfect for families, as it can accommodate up to three children or teens in its loft space. The only room without a fireplace is Room 3.
