But let me tell you, according to our food editor, this place is one of the absolute best in Rosebank. When it comes to Joburg’s restaurant scene, it doesn’t get much better than this. Picture a South African version of the Great American Burger Experience, and you’ll be right on the money. In fact, Shake Shake is a pretty accurate comparison, considering they’ve even got the same chrome flat-top grill that the folks in the US use. Talk about authenticity!

The burgers here are made from top-quality, grass-fed beef that’s ground to perfection. They develop this mouthwatering crust when they hit the hot grill. And it’s not just the meat that’s top-notch. The culinary adventure begins with their empanadas de carne, which are traditional pastries filled with beef, onion, olives, eggs, and red pepper. But it was their Bonidola Rellena that truly impressed me. It’s a main dish made of pork neck stuffed with blue cheese, bacon, paprika, and prunes. I also had a rocket salad with tomato confit and goat cheese on the side.

Their menu primarily consists of meat-based dishes cooked on the asado, which is the Argentinian word for braai. These meals are traditional and simple, allowing the quality of the meat to shine. Speaking of quality, all the meat served at Che Argentine Grill is free-range, grass-fed, and free from additives.
