10 Wildlife Charities You Should Donate to This Christmas
Ah, it’s that time of year again – the season of giving. But between the chaos of tying up loose ends at work and the frenzy of finding the perfect gifts for your loved ones, it’s easy to overlook something important.
While you’re busy worrying about what to get your distant cousin or your spouse’s family, there are places out there that would truly value a gift from you this Christmas. The best part? You don’t even have to leave your cozy chair or wrack your brain for hours trying to figure out what to get them.
I’m here to talk about something important – wildlife charities. These are the places that work hard to protect our wildlife and tackle the challenges that many of our local species face. It’s sad to say, but most of these challenges are caused by us humans. So, let’s make up for our bad behavior and give a little to wildlife this year.
Now, I want to share with you 10 wildlife charities to consider donating to this Christmas. These organizations are doing amazing work to make a difference, and your support can go a long way in helping them.
The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT): Making a Difference for Animals
Wow, I recently discovered this incredible organization called the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), and they are doing some absolutely amazing work to protect wildlife. What’s really awesome is that they have been at it for many years, dedicated to making a positive impact on various species. They have a ton of projects you can choose from, each focusing on a different group of animals that need our help.
One of the projects EWT is working on is focused on the beautiful African cranes. These majestic birds are facing serious threats to their survival, but with your support, EWT is working tirelessly to ensure their future. They are also working to protect birds of prey, who play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems.
But it’s not just about the birds! EWT also has projects dedicated to saving endangered amphibians and the adorable little riverine rabbit. These small creatures may seem insignificant to some, but they play a vital role in their respective ecosystems. By supporting EWT, you are ensuring that these unique animals have a fighting chance.
Now, here’s the best part: when you contribute to EWT, you’re not only helping to save wildlife, but you also get a little something for yourself or someone special. They have a fantastic gift shop where you can find all sorts of goodies. So, not only do you get the warm fuzzy feeling of making a difference, but you also get a thoughtful present to give to a loved one.
Join me in supporting the Endangered Wildlife Trust and their vital conservation efforts. Together, we can make a real impact on the future of these amazing animals.

2. Wildlife ACT
Hey there! I’ve got some amazing news for you. Let me introduce you to Wildlife ACT – the superheroes of animal conservation. These incredible folks work tirelessly to protect endangered species like wild dogs, cheetahs, and lions. And guess what? They don’t even ask for a single penny from the reserves they help!
Now, here’s the really cool part. Wildlife ACT relies on volunteers like you to make their conservation efforts possible. Imagine that! You can be a real-life hero too by joining them on a volunteering expedition in the stunning KwaZulu Natal. How amazing would that be?
So, what are you waiting for? Grab this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a difference and be a part of something truly extraordinary. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the incredible image by A Marchal at Wildlife ACT. It’s worth a thousand words!
3. SANCCOB
Did you know about SANCCOB? They may not always make the headlines unless there’s an oil spill on the South African coast, but their work is important every day of the year. SANCCOB works hard to protect not just penguins, but also other precious seabirds.
And here’s something exciting – you can actually adopt a baby penguin! How cool is that? They even have a special Christmas offer going on right now!

4. Tusk
If you love elephants, then Tusk is the charity for you. But don’t be fooled by the name, they’re not just about elephants. Tusk works with a variety of animals, across 53 different projects in 18 African countries. Their mission is to resolve conflicts between animals and humans over land.
Tusk also provides opportunities for volunteers to get involved and they have a shop with lots of cool merchandise.

5. Daktari Bush School
Have you ever wondered how we can protect wildlife? Well, one way is by teaching kids about it. That’s what Daktari believes in. They have come up with a brilliant idea – environmental education for children in the surrounding communities. By involving these kids in the animal orphanage on their premises, they impart a sense of value and appreciation for the animals they share their earth with. It’s a simple but effective way to conserve wildlife.
If you’re passionate about both animals and children, then you’ll find volunteering at Daktari exceptionally rewarding. You get to make a difference in the lives of both animals and kids!

Welcome to FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation!
Hey there! I’m thrilled to introduce you to FreeMe – a dedicated team based in Johannesburg, who saw a pressing need for wildlife care right in the heart of Gauteng’s suburbs. You see, vets simply aren’t always ready to handle the unique challenges that come with exotic animals in need. And that’s where FreeMe swoops in.
Now, let me tell you something cool about FreeMe. They rely on folks like you and me to notify them whenever we spot suburban wildlife in distress. Yes, that means YOU have the power to make a difference!
Hey, by the way, have you heard about FreeMe’s wish list? It’s pretty exciting! They’ve put together a list of items they need, and guess what? If you happen to have any of those lying around at home, why not pass them over to make a big impact? Every little bit counts, my friend!
Oh, and before I forget – take a look at the awesome image below, courtesy of FreeMe. It’ll give you a little taste of the amazing work they do. So inspiring!

SAMREC: Saving Eastern Cape Seabirds
Hey there! Have you heard about SAMREC? It’s this amazing organization in the Eastern Cape that is all about protecting and rehabilitating seabirds, just like SANCCOB does down in the Cape. And let me tell you, they have some pretty adorable penguins!
Right now, SAMREC is a bit desperate for volunteers. So if you and your family are looking for a way to bond and have some fun this holiday, why not offer your help for a week or two? It’s a fantastic opportunity to make a difference and give back to nature.

African Wildlife Foundation (AWF): Making a Difference for Africa’s Animals, People, and Environment
Hey there, it’s me again, and today I want to tell you about an amazing organization called the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF). These guys are doing incredible things all across Africa, not just for the animals, but also for the people and the environment. It’s pretty awesome!
So, let me give you a few examples of the fantastic work they’re doing. One of their projects is all about giraffes. You know those amazing creatures with the long necks and beautiful patterns? AWF is working hard to protect them and their habitats. They also help to look after waterholes, making sure that giraffes and other animals have access to clean water.
But that’s not all! AWF is also working with gorillas. These magnificent creatures are rare and endangered, and AWF is doing everything they can to protect them. They’re fighting against poaching and habitat destruction, so that gorillas can thrive in the wild.
And let’s not forget about rhinos and elephants. AWF is working tirelessly to save these majestic animals from extinction. They’re fighting against the illegal wildlife trade and taking action to secure protected areas where rhinos and elephants can roam freely.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I think all of this is pretty amazing. AWF is not just focused on one species or one issue. They’re taking a holistic approach, working with local communities and governments to protect Africa’s wildlife and natural resources.
So, if you care about animals, if you care about Africa, and if you want to make a difference, I encourage you to support the African Wildlife Foundation. They’re doing incredible work, and with your help, they can continue to make a positive impact on Africa’s wildlife, people, and environment.
And before I go, I just want to say a big thank you to AWF for allowing us to use their image. It’s a great reminder of why their work is so important.
9. Lajuma Research Centre: Contributing to Conservation
I want to tell you about the amazing work happening at the Lajuma Research Centre. This place is nestled high up in the Soutpansberg Mountain Range. It’s a remote and beautiful part of the world where people are making a real difference in wildlife conservation.
See, the reason we’re able to do these conservation projects is because of all the hard work and research that people like those at Lajuma have done. They’ve been studying the species in this area, collecting important data, and updating a database of the ecology of the region.
And guess what? You can get involved too! Lajuma welcomes volunteers who are interested in helping out with their important work. Imagine being right there, in this stunning natural environment, and contributing to something bigger than yourself.
Now, I know you might be thinking, “How can I support them financially if they don’t have a donation portal?” Well, guess what? You can still make a difference by sending them an unexpected Christmas donation. It’s a thoughtful and surprising way to show your support for the incredible work they’re doing.
So, let’s band together and make a positive impact on our planet. Join Lajuma Research Centre in their efforts to protect and conserve the unique wildlife in this breathtaking part of the world.
