We actually met on Instagram; he slid into my DMs.

Then at our first meeting he kissed me, I slapped him, I kissed him back and the rest is history.

We connected instantly and so began our international romance.
Two weeks after we met we travelled to Cape Town and I think that’s where we fell deeply in love.

Since then we’ve travelled to Belgium, Croatia, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Paris.

He proposed at a restaurant called Teraca Vidilica in Split after we had done the Game of Thrones tour. We’re huge Game of Thrones fans, as such, my ring is engraved “moon of my life” and his is engraved “my sun and stars”

We took our time in planning our wedding, I had looked around for a dress for about a year, eventually finding my dream Enzoani dress that Bridal Wardrobe was able to source for me.

I flew to London to buy my Sophia Webster “Wifey for Lifey” Shoes from the bridal boutique in 2019.

I was a very organised bride and my husband also contributed to ideas in terms of the cake, theme, and he was very part of the whole wedding process.

Our wedding had a “Winter Wonderland Fairytale” theme. With COVID we still had our winter- wonderland- only it was in summer. But other than that we were still able to have our dream wedding.

Prior to the actual reception we had our wedding ceremony in September at Four Seasons the Westcliff Presidential Suite where we did a gift exchange and photo shoot.

It was so extravagant it was assumed that it was our wedding.

Three months later, we had a mehndi night before our wedding reception in December and did a photo shoot at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel.

We had gotten our matching outfits for this event from India so we decided to go ahead and still do all the celebrations before our reception.

We had stayed at the luxurious Villa Moji for the weekend of our wedding at The Fairlawns Boutique Hotel.

Our wedding was a dream, I had such a great team. From getting ready at Villa Moji with my bridesmaids, the reveal and photo shoot at the hotel and our first dance, it truly was epic!

What Was Your Favourite Aspect Of The Day?

My favorite aspect was our little gift exchange we had done at the hotel before we left for the reception, we had gifted each other boxes that read “to my gorgeous husband” and “to my gorgeous wife” which has matching pjs inside.

We also exchanged written letters that were enclosed in boxes that had a picture on top from our ceremony.

My husband also gifted me a Pandora charm that read, “To My beautiful wife, forever And always”. This was such a beautiful moment that was just for us.

What Would You Change in Hindsight?

In hindsight, I would breathe more and I would stress less

What Advice Would You Give to Future Brides?

  • I would advise brides to make the most of this day.
  • To make memories and take time to celebrate your story and your partner as Mohamed and I did in doing our gift exchange and stealing moments that weren’t for anyone else, but just for us.

How Has Married Life Been? Any insights you can share?

Married life has been the easiest days of my existence.

So many people put on a show for pictures or on Instagram, I see posts from women who make tributes to their husbands when they don’t even sleep in the same room.

I didn’t just have an exceptional wedding, I have an exceptional marriage and the wedding was just there to celebrate the life we have built on a strong foundation of faith, love, trust and romance.

The house don’t fall when the bones are good. Mohamed and I have something that’s so much more than anything you will read about in any book or see in any movie because what we have is the real deal, this is real life.

What I can share is, the person you marry can either be your peace or your pain, choose wisely.

This is not for the pictures, this is not for showing anyone, marriage isn’t something to be tolerated.

Marital status isn’t something that gives you entry to some cool club or to prove you accomplished something, this is your life, don’t throw it away based on what you think it should look like.
